If we give up hartung we must be very confident that we have the depth to cover. We have JOR and potentially someone like impey who could slot into the role next year and this could be the strategy going forward. Dont think impey has the tank to play wing right now however. Could we slot sicily there as a marking wingman? Is quick enough across the ground, interesting scenarios in play atm.
I believe we are open to departing with jor.

I don't expect any of the following to transpire and have no reason to believe that Hawthorn are interested in Schache, I just like playing with hyotheticals

What would Hartung and Hodge be worth in a package deal? Maybe a pick in the 30s at most?

What would you want in return for a number 2 draft pick key forward who just had a down year and looks unlikely to commit to the club long term? Probably a mid first round pick? How does the math work out on that difference? I can't see our future first not being involved.

Hawthorn In: Josh Schache, pick 18, pick 42
Brisbane In: Hawthorn future first round pick, Luke Hodge, Billy Hartung, pick 32

That's the closest I can come up with in a two team scenario and still don't think Brisbane would bite. It's looking more and more like Schache won't be on the move. You can thrown Whitecross into the mix but I'm not sure it makes sense given Brisbane has only made 4 delistings and will have several high picks. Maybe Brisbane rate a reliable, hard working guy that would be a good cultural influence more than I think? Only Tom Rockliff, Claye Beams and Michael Close are out of contract.

Trading out 32 and our future first would also jeopardise any Impey deal which the club has made its public priority.

A Port Adelaide friend says Impey's tank is reasonable but he does not get involved in the contest enough.
For mine, Sicily is best intercepting or receiving.
Hanrahan looks good for the wing

The Hartung circumstance doesn't feel right to me, no club declaring any interest in Hartung publicly, the player not declaring a wish to leave, Hawthorn claiming no contract was offered as yet to the player. It feels to me like someone has made a mistake here.

Compare with Impey.

Yeah where is hartungs manager?

He has alot of strengths. Endurance, Line breaker, ball magnet, running goals.
Towards the end of the season was showing massive improvement in tackles sticking, not forcasting his actions.

He is 23. He WILL be playing afl next year so why so quiet?

Giving up a future 1st in a Schache deal could be okay if we play finals next year, but given the supposed top 6 of next year would all go no 1 this year it would be a huge let down if we have a poor season.

Very similar to savage, with an extra season or two in him.

What did we get for savage?

No mistake.
We've just seen his level and coaches are ready to move on.
If you think subterfuge would better help us sell him to the market, I'm guessing not.

Hartung....I believe the manager is Scotty Lucas.... not 100% sure. Yea, where is Scotty?

Surely Hawthorn haven't just tested the trade waters blindly with Hartung in the hope a club wants him and delivers a good deal; and also in the hope that if no club bites that Hartung will return and sign for X dollars at Hawthorn. Surely they begun this process with solid intel?

OR....... This is all being driven by Hartung. (I believe this is more likely). That Hartung and his entourage have rejected Hawks contract offer and have decided to test the waters (thus a contract was offered by Hawks, which is currently being denied/washed over).

Strange that no club has said they are into him, even if as a later trade week priority.

As I said above, it feels like someone has pewed the scrooch

where did Hartung come from. That was in a seperate deal
Hartung was taken at pick 24 which was acquired along with pick 59 from the Saints in exchange for pick 19 which we received as compensation for Franklin. We ended up using pick 59 to upgrade Ceglar so essentially a wasted trade. We could have used pick to take Impey which is who I reckon we wanted but was taken earlier by Port at 21.

Or we could have taken Zac Merrett...
