yeah but Chaplin is a tall and Newman is a small-midsized. I am not sure how having Chaplin frees Newman up to play elsewhere. newman doesn't really have enough pace to play midfield anyway.

here is one out of left field for the tigerheads. Given Newmos life in the AFL has been spent in the BL and pretty much nowhere else and then adding the fact that he does kick well and long, I wouldnt die wondering on how he would go on a HF flank...tipping with his BL experience on how defenders go about it, he would surprise a few playing there. Thats my 3 cents worth anyway.

Would love to see him on a HFF. but don't want to see him stifle the development of, say, an O'Hanlon who looks to be hungry to make that spot his own. Competition for spots is good.

This bloke is the answer to our CHF issues.
He's an absolute beast.
After all, we can't have Shane Edwards playing CHF every week ;)

the problem with the tiges has been they never quite recovered when one of our greates CHFs retired. Andy Kelleway left a huge hole and big shoes to fill and we have been looking for the answer ever since.

I think he'll become a spare parts guy. He isn't the quickest, hardest, or meanest, but his experience, footy brain, and versatility mean he can plug into a BP, HBF, wing, or HFF role. Reckon where we are injured or under performing, he'll be sent.

Houli isnt a starting 22 for me, but the reason we have him in there is a marketing gimmick thats the simple way of putting it

Houli is a Depth player for me
Wow just wow.

I apologize if the word Gimmick has made people upset !

would Marketing Scheme be a better form of words ?
No it wouldn't.

Houli was recruited because he is a talented footballer who wasn't getting an opportunity at the Bombers. He was not recruited to boost memberships or our clubs standing amongst the muslim community. To think anything else is misguided and wrong.

people are quick to forget houlis mistakes for some reason .. and do what i did cb17 and keep tabs on how many time houli get beaten by his opponent you will see why he is a depth player

Make him Sub

yep he does make mistakes as you suggest and he is by far and away the softest player not only on our list but the whole of the comp and this is the reason we recruited him for marketing and the bummers were spewing that he wanted out as well...and yes he gets beaten alot by his opponent, but we dont care because he is there for marketing and the teams on field improvement matters nought, when we are gunning for a few more members from the lebanese community....FFS.

Yes he did call Houli a gimmick. Not disputing that. Just pointing out the fact that that after he clarified his statements, he clearly stated that it was because he believed clubs used players ethnic background to drum up extra interest and business. I believe his intention was to state that Houli may be getting favoured by the club when it came to inclusion in the 22, as he thought Houli is a fringe player. BM is entitled to his opinion and as I stated I think Houli is just in the 22 or fringe. I'm also entitled to my opinion as are you! I think you are trying to scream racist when that is not the case.. My opinion only.

Ha ha, someone has had the balls to bring it up and it wasn't me.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

This isn't about Houli either, I would throw Nahas into a similar category. Both can play but I sense favouritism.

It is more obvious with Houli because our backline is stronger . I think it is more about marketing than race but they deserve a place but not as high as some IMO.

If you want to play the race marketing angle should have gone with E Wallace type because with his physique he may actually be a star better than Kennelly.

I think with Houli it is also a case of protecting the nest a little because they went out to get him and he cannot be seen as unsuccessful in comparison to Grigg so their is a bit of politics there covering decision makers butts.

I don't mind Houli but, for me he is not first 22 nor a backman and if he is any chance to make the team proper it would have to be like a Libba role without the nastiness!!!

P.S. getting commentary from former prime ministers doesn't help the arguers promoting the pros on this!!

Eventually their will be better players from a muslim and other culture background who will have far greater influence on results during the game but I sense a little protection ATM, I have nothing against the concept.

Nahas and Houlli deserve to be AFL players no doubt:thumbsu:

You see i highlighted the awesome bits, then highlighted your little disclaimer at the bottom in case people come down on you. This whole post pretty much sums up your knowledge. LOL, I sense you will disagree with me.
Mods, close this shit down, i am over the ****wit patrol that has become this thread.
There are posters on this board that are an embarrassment.
Here is a photo of a select number of Tiger posters at their last gathering discussing football and immigration.

Hmmm touched a nerve, is there a cultural bias at RFC??? or is there a cultural bias in the AFL???

Actually if I was a moo and litigious minded I assume I could sue your arse off for vilification bringing up the KKK associations.

Lucky I am a level headed average Joe!!!:D

1) Nahas is not a Muslim - he's Christian

2) the club has done SFA promoting the game to the Lebanese community using Nahas, so why would he be getting any favoritism?

What's funny Magic is i recall you saying you would never come back to this board. There was a reason people reacted at you. It touches a nerve as what was said is a flat out non truth. You support your arguments with i sense, and i feel.
Turn it up, at the risk of a card, i'll say to you and any one else who spruiks this mindless, uninformed, racist, line of thinking, you're a ****ing embarrassment to the board and the club. You embarrass us and others associated with the club. I still think your a troll, nothing has changed my thinking over the time you went and crawled under a rock. Now put your mouse over the report post button and **** off back to the bay.
You are out of touch and clueless as are a couple of other posters on this matter. Do it, report me pole smoker, and we'll thrash this out behind the scenes. See who comes out on top.

So it boils down to the fact that if you don't rate Houli as a starting 22 player then he must only be getting selected due to his race??

Seriously, a few cards should be getting handed out over such blatant racism.

Actually , someone may charge RFC and AFL for racism!!! Reverse racism is racism possibly!!!

But it probably isn't about race except when KKK images get brought up.

It really is about commercialism taking over the game probably, or abuse of the powerful elite pushing hidden agendas against the fair go of the average player who wants to compete:thumbsu: Then again that is the society we live in, just look at our politicians on both sides:thumbsdown:

There is no such thing as reverse racism, racism is racism and clearly you are racist.

Folau was a gimmick. The Giants basically said it right from the start and the AFL said he would be worth the money for the publicity alone.
The thing that separates Folau from Houli is that Houli plays the game and plays it well and is on the list for football ability and nothing else.

Exactly, it is not racism!!!

Racism has nothing to do with it so the KKK can piss off, and the religious zealouts/freaks can piss off to, BTW I am religious and proud of it, nothing wrong with that:thumbsu:

Yeah it does. Nothing wrong with culture or religion, but to suggest or support the view that a player gets a game ahead of others because of the two previous points is. And by you supporting BM's views, that's what you have done. Perhaps you should re read what triggered this debate off.
