i want to vent my frustration

Wow, this is seriously embarrassing.
We're talking about a guy who has absolutely starred for our club the last 6 years, who's heading towards the end of his career and isn't happy living in Melbourne. So what do you all expect him to do? Specifically sign with GWS who are so far from making finals it isn't funny just so it doesn't inconvenience Hawthorn?
Yes we should be annoyed that Sydney have enough money to offer such a deal but to say that Buddy has shafted the club by picking a team that can play finals and has a good history of looking after players is just ludicrious.
For everyone saying that he's cooked, I think you seriously forget what he's capable of. Clarkson coached the team brilliantly this year by directing more of the ball away from Franklin and he still kicked 60 goals! He also showed what is possible when we use him as our key target by kicking 8 against Essendon, his 5 goals against Gold Coast actually swung the game in our favour when it looked like we might have pulled off the biggest choke of the past few years. I shouldn't even mention that he was again nominated for the AA team. He's been AA in 2008, 2010, 2011 & 2012 (despite missing 6 weeks because of "drugs").
I'm 100% Hawthorn and the club is definitely bigger than any individual but no-one was acting this way when we all knew he was leaving for GWS. It's just because it's Sydney and now he's "fat", "a decoy", "a party animal", "lazy" etc.
And for those suggesting we carried him to the GF, you have to be absolutely blind. I was really happy with his PF performance where he lead hard up the field and created plenty of opportunities for Gunston and Breust (shame about his goal-kicking) and in the Grand Final, his attack on the footy and work outside 50 was outstanding.
So vent your frustration all you want but he's still a Hawthorn Life Member and dual-premiership player and until he kicks 10 against us in a Grand Final I can't bear any grudges against him.

More strikes than the Teachers Union is what I keep hearing. (how quick we can change our tune) 
I thought Clarko handled it really well at the Crimmins medal and get the feeling he may be able to refocus the group a little more without all the dramas and quietly maybe looking forward to the challenge.
What choice did the big log really have when we stop and think about it. If he said this is my final year at Hawthorn and Im going to sydney on what will be the biggest offer in VFL/AFL history we would of shot him down and he would have endured the worst year of his life.
The moment the Rebels sacked Kurtley and Jimmy Oconner that was it and the word around town was that he was following the Bungy brothers to LALA land. We all laughed and scoffed and said imagine his big ego running around Skoda in front of two and a dog and he has had the last laugh....THIS TIME
Old big hooter pickering comes out of this with 400k in his sky rocket (4% of 10 Mill) and a smug little smirk and good luck to him....Amazing deal from Hooter.
This will hurt the club for a year or two no doubt especially off the ground however it may just be whats required to re-energise and galvanise a group to take it on and win a couple more flags without him.
Lets all move on now. I was pissssed about it for 3 days but have built a harbour bridge and moving on and looking forward to us responding on the park next year.

I couldn't give two shits about this whole thing to be honest. Yes, it will be sad and weird seeing Bud in red and white, but I have decided just to focus on the Hawthorn Football Club and the players still here/ will be arriving

And you know what? We just won the ****ing Premiership! Be happy. If Buddy leaving really ended your enjoyment of it, then you have some serious issues.

haha i dont really wish that upon my worst enemy but at the time i was just furious. :/ im kinda getting over it... Franklin can go where ever the hell he wants.... but my biggest problem is that he was selfish enough not to even mention a fair trade for both parties... there where alot of ways around this, one being if he agreed to a one year contract with the intention of trading him at the end of it..... not leaving us for dead to go do what ever the hell he wants to do in Sydney.
