Well unfortunately we were too late to jump on this idea quick enough for this season.

But despite that, let's make sure that we get it ready for the 2009 season.

If you look at a couple other boards, you'd notice that they have their own B+F's which are an accumulation of votes made by posters during the course of the year.

That's all easy enough - but what are we going to do for a name?

'Unfortunately' the Peter Crimmins Medal is taken, but does anyone have any ideas as to what we can call ours?

Remember, it doesn't even need to be explicitly footy related.

We'll get the best 10 suggestions and then put it on a poll for you guys to decide.

Why don't we call ours the Beau Muston medal?

In honour of our recently departed club stalwart, "The Ferguson", "The Doc" or "The Sandy".

This man was a great man who personified Hawthorn equally or moreso than any other.

"If you embrace Hawthorn, Hawthorn will embrace you."

Love it. I'd like to add the "Fergie" to your list of options.
I also like the John Kennedy Medal.

I guess being an old Hawk too, over 60 years of following the Hawks, the older names mean more to me. Like the "Graham Arthur medal." I doubt many have given more to the HFC than this man over a very long period.
However, because so many BF members are young, I think an appropriate award would be The Jason Dunstall medal.

Another who has contributed long after a magnificent career.

Glad I'm not a judge on this one!

I've been thinkin long and hard on this one.
Tried to come up with something witty but gave up.
Too hard to name it after a player because I love so many in equal measures.

Then got thinking. Well it is a Hawks Big Footy Medal so maybe relate it to us and this here forum.

So my suggestion is....now wait a minute...I need to say, and I'm deadly serious....The mods on this board do a wonderful job, and I feel safe in saying, are pretty much universally appreciated and admired.
So in appreciation I think the inaugural Hawks Big Footy B and F Medal should be dedicated to the aforementioned and called the:

RUSTY PHILFORTH MEDAL

Now of course they will be too modest to sign off on this but I think we should let the power of the poster decide!!!!:):thumbsu:

Maybe one of them should sticky this thread so that if people share the opinion the idea will get plenty of support.
Prob sticky it anyway.
Cheers all.

Haha, definitely not, mate! As kind a suggestion as that is, we want this to last for the ages - well after Gary, Rusty and I are mods!

Was it Tony Woods or Daniel Harford who climbed up the point post out at Waverley to argue a goal umpire decision. Maybe a best "Poster" award could be named after one of these men?:)

Seeing as no one likes the mods:)eek:)I like the Mew Medal.

One of our greatest players who has never received the recognition he deserves.

Thus this would be recognition.:thumbsu:
