If Ablett was suspended next game, who is your new tip for Charlie?

Sammy Mitchell would be a sneaky chance to go back2back.

2back runner up? Yeah, possibly.

In all honesty I'm surprised more people aren't selecting Watson. Sure, he missed 4 games (including PA) and won't have gotten votes in the past 3, but we had a similar slide last season. Would have polled against:

Adelaide (3), Melbourne (3), Fremantle (3), St. Kilda (3), Collingwood (2), Brisbane (1), Richmond (2), Gold Coast (2), West Coast (2) plus a possibility of getting 1 against Geelong. That leaves him on 22 votes right now

How has he gone lately?

Has his form dropped off?

If so why do you think that is?

His personal form hasn't, but it's hard to get votes when the side is losing by 7-10 goals. He may sneak 2 or 3 votes over the past 3 weeks but I'd be surprised if it's any more. Although he did fumble a lot against North

FWIW I dont see GAJ winning- numbers no as good as last year and many more to steal votes- JOM, Bennell, nicholls, dixon, prestia. which cancels out extra wins.
I think everyone getting a little caught up in his 2-3 extraordinary games.

No contest-he is the best player in the league- but would argue- selwood, jack, pendlebury and even barlow are likely to have more polling games

Seems a forgone conclusion that the brownlow is going home with Gary this year, rightly or wrongly. I wonder tho, if by some unlikely occurrence he was rendered ineligible before the end of the H/A season, who gets it?

My tip would be J Selwood, D Swan or maybe M Barlow.
Bookies officially have Selwood as favorite if Ablett is out of contention

Selwood making a late run dont know how many early-mid season votes he has or may get.KJack has also had super year not ending the season aswell as some he would like.
If the Herald Sun Award is an indication (it is a 3-2-1 voting system) Selwood is on 21 votes along with Fyfe, Jack, and Swan. Ablett on 20.

Should have gone with

" What's The Quinella ?":)

I'm giving Boaky a good chance to be 20 plus point's....he is a proven vote getter in a side that has won its fair share of games.

I did a quick assessment, based on the AFL website stats. After R21 Selwood may have polled as many as 30 votes (including 9 BOG's), or as little as 18 votes. Take an average - 24.

No doubt, even after a quiet patch in recent weeks, Ablett would still be ahead.

If a Pie doesn't win it, it would be brilliant to see Barlow win. What a story, from VFL to AFL rookie to Brownlow medalist in a top 4 side. Give me that kind of story over this Essendon car crash any day.

Jack winning would also be good. I used to watch his Dad Gary play for Balmain and never could have imagined that his son would turn out to be a gun midfielder in the AFL.

And after all that I'm picking Pendles to win the Brownlow this year. :D

Joel Selwood has already won Charlie...

As good a chance as he's ever had IMO.

He's having his best and most consistent individual season (has had just two games with less than 25 disposals, and in both of those he "only" got 23), hasn't missed a game, is playing in a finals side. He gets a huge amount of the footy, uses the ball exquisitely, tackles, wins clearances, kicks goals. Seems to tick all the boxes for a Brownlow season IMO.

Swan takes a lot of votes off him, also Cloke has had a good year, and Beams in the latter part of the season. Plus Sidebottom would take a few.
I think its just too spread for Collingwood to have a winner, same with Sydney. My choice is Selwood or Boak (Ablett will win it)

I realise that, but obvious logic shows that if you have extended poor periods during a season, it will damage your chances of polling enough votes to win.

Well the whole intent of such a comment would be to hurt or offend, no? It certainly doesn't count as any sort of valid argument against what was actually being discussed.
It was actually to have a bit of a laugh. I enjoy how you are carrying on about validility when you made comments about the Chris Grant incident that you obviously know little to none about.

Ryan Griffen has had a brilliant year, but the dogs probably haven't won enough games and he doesn't poll that well historically. Hmm in light of this new information I may change my mind to Scott Pendlebury

Problem is he and the rest of the Pies midfield don't run both ways so this may effect his voting.
