If Heeney?

Not only did Dusty win 3 Norm Smith medals but he also won 3 Gary Ayres awards (Player of the Finals).

I think the more time goes on the more people will grasp how impressive of a feat that is. I can’t see another player break BOTH those records let alone 1 of them. All winning GFs too in 4 years.

Home & Away footy only means a certain amount. Home & Away footy sets a team up for a Premiership but Finals footy is what wins teams a Premiership. It's a small window...only 1 month...but that is when it truly matters. Too much emphasis goes into Home & Away footy. Need to get the job done in Finals too. Sydney now have a 1-4 Grand Final record under Longmire as coach.

Wow!

Maybe waiting a few weeks before showing an inability to accept that 2017 - 2020 was real may make people look less bitter.

On the bright side! you can start an Ashcroft is Goat thread now!

Heeney is a fine player, but he's no match for Josh Dunkley.

Fraud.
Was probably the worst on ground today, and easily the biggest disappointment of the game.

Watch him have 25 touches and four goals against North next year and people will talk him up, but he is worthless when it really matters.

He tore up 2 finals & copped a hard tag from Dunkley today. But sure yeah he's a fraud

People are way too harsh.

His team was absolutely smoked. The opposition sacrificed a quality player just to stop his influence.

In those circumstances, it is up to his teammates who are given free reign to stand up (and then Heeney can do his part and likely ends up on the end of a few)

Heeney had a fantastic year and is one of the key reasons they got there in the first place. He dominated the first two finals, one in which he inspired a comeback such that if he wasn't there, they surely wouldn't have won.

As I've had to point out to people sinking the boots into Crippa sometimes, there's 22 blokes in a given team. One player, no matter how good, can sometimes only do so much especially when their team is being flogged.

No doubt Heeney is a really good player but what separates players like Martin, Judd, Ablett Jnr and Dangerfield is that they find a way including in Finals too.

Heeney was quiet today. Had to be better when it mattered most.

All of the above.

Kudos to Richmond, they peaked at the right time.

Despite scraping into the top 4 in all of their premiership years, who were their strongest opposition?

The GWS, Geelong and Collingwood teams of the time? The latter two teams fielding solid though not outstanding teams that were far inferior to the better teams they have fielded since the turn of the century.
Hurt still fresh? Dont give up. You may convince yourself one day. It must be comforting with all those handbagerz in group therapy at least.

Unfortunately played his poor final in the biggest game, but wowzers he carried the lads in the other 2 finals, perhaps if one other mid turned up today he could have gone forward.
Not excusing him but he had a few more credits than some
