Nick Riewoldt brings up the whole 'sleeping in your own bed' crap after Brisbane's win.

Dunstall: How is that any different to all the Melbourne teams who are able to do the same at the MCG during a regular season?

Thanks Chief. ♥
Did NR say anything after the Chief ruined him with that comment? Or was it the standard silence like everytime #VICBIAS is questioned?

Lucky Chief hosts one of the more successful shows on foxfooty or I suspect he may have been looking for other employment for not following the hard done by Vics narrative

Is it time for a 2006 drug story yet? Or do we need to beat Collingwood? Or Geelong?

Titus O’Reilly ran with that one in this weeks newsletter.

See section on WCE v Pies for details.

'The Perth media have been getting stuck into the Pies already, with The West Australian calling them ‘the dirty Pies’.

That sort of thing would never happen in Melbourne’s media towards the Eagles.

I mean, unless you count all the times they’ve bought up the 2006 West Coast Eagles being on drugs, but in fairness, they only do that every single year West Coast are threatening to win the Premiership.'

Not a surprise, but the match report on the AFL is unsavoury reading.
Basically echoed the 7 commentary team's narrative about the brave Pies who were given no chance to win, with no credit being afforded to us whatsoever for making it a tight contest.
Pretty disgraceful imo, but what can you expect from the same website which produces the delightful Sliding Doors features.

Rita Panahi can **** off, she wrote that hit story to screw with us in 2015, no surprises she is a massive Hawks fan.

Would reading some puff piece make you feel better? There are places for that. We shat the bed, plain and simple. Collingwood wanted to and deserved to win. We expected to. And to expect some kind of media adulation for it? I now know why our supporter base gets its rap for being equal parts precious and insufferable.

Who's asking for media adulation? It was a close contest and only a 1 point result. It really could've gone either way.
This is meant to be the match report from the official AFL website, but AFL website decided to write a "puff piece" about the brave Pies who overcame all the odds stacked against them, which is exactly the same angle that the 7 commentary team had last night.
They could've chosen to put out an unbiased match report if they wanted, but they decided on a tabloid like article.

You only had to see who was commentating to know ot was going to be about the magpies. Hence went for the safe option muted the sound and found a radio stream that was at least even handed

Reality is that we deserve it - Collingwood were up against it and we should have put them to the sword. Instead they decided as a collective group that they were gonna stick it up our arrogant backsides and did just that. They out-worked us over the ground and dug in against incredible odds and a hostile crowd to win a classic final. By contrast, we once again did what West Coast are famous for doing in games where we are heavy favourites: drink the bathwater and just expect it all to fall our way. When it didnt go to narrative who stood up? No one. The Pies stuck fat all night and deserve to be media darlings. Personally I wouldnt mind being potted in the media for a bit - it might give us the incentive to stop being pissy little bitches when we have to hub away again.

That has been Purples narrative all year. there is some truth to it but he also overlooks the fact that we (and Freo) were first in the hub where there was a lot more uncertainty in terms of time away from home, things we could and couldn't do etc.

2 of those 3 losses we had were against top 4 sides as well, including Brisbane at home.

So according to access all areas, we didn't do well this year because we 'moaned.'

******* spare me.

There's no doubt that those 3 losses impacted on our season.

We were in the game/in front against Gold Coast/Lions at half time, and when they made a push we folded like a cheap tent. The level of emotional investment required to dig in just wasn't there. Same thing with Port. We were able to get on top of them and close the gap to 10 or so points. One goal then saw us pack up our bat and ball and go home metaphorically speaking and Port piled on about 6 more goals with little resistance.

To an extent I agree. The way we approached that initial hub was in no way befitting of club standards and the WAAFL level ‘efforts’ we served up meant we missed out on Top 4. We only really performed when we wanted to this year. Pretty much the same story as last year.

Two very poor years in a row with this list is not acceptable. Sure, finishing 5th may not fit everyone’s definitions of ‘very poor’ but I believe we’re a much stronger list than what has been produced post-GF.

Agreed, still a premership list but their drive and determination to succeed at all costs just hasnt been there the last 2 season. Its been a massive disappointment.
