Surprising to see that people would support Collingwood if this happened because of a few posters on Big Footy.

Not really. Geelong were one of my least hated teams, and I admired them in 07 - barracked really hard for a good mate who's watched them for 30-odd years without success.

The next month of b13-esque stuff was enough to turn me off them for "life" (= approx 1 year). I vowed never to back them again, and wished nothing more than a humiliating GF loss in 08. Got that half-right.

I didn't notice an awful lot of Hawk trolls - probably 90% of it was bringing up threads from Geelong posters during the season ridiculing our belief we could win against "the greatest team of all".

2009 was depressing for us even before the season started, but Geelong won me over (in spite of their posters) with their play - as I "knew" we could beat them if we could just get fit.

2010 wasn't much better - I really enjoyed watching the way Collingwood played - you could almost pretend it was a black'n'white replay of our games - same structure, similar styles - just a better ruck setup, and able to run, and run and run and run, and .....

I've never seen anything like the 2007 trolls (though I think Eagles, Swans, Power, Lionsx3 all have less posters, and don't remember much on here from 2000), but since then there's been only the odd poster with no idea.

So in short, I can understand why a clubs followers can make you dislike the team.

I would have thought it's irrelevent unless something major changes. We got bundled out in week one of the finals, and trade week isn't over...so we have practically the exact same team, minus some dead wood.

I would have thought, unless you're a bitter Geelong supporter like the OP, that Collingwood vs probably 5 teams more suitable than the Hawks, would have been a better idea?

LOL they seem pretty quick to forget the 73 point drubbing last year..

That's a tough pick. Collingwood are obviously feral and filled with bandwagon douchbags.. But Hawthorn talk far more sh#t and are the kings of whiny excuses, plus they're also full of bandwagon idiots (see 50k members after they're 08 win).... It's a tough call.

Hawks great to watch because they have Franklin, Hodge and Rioli.

But they aren't good enough to challenge in 2011. Franklin and Hodge are two of the best in the game but it drops off very quickly after that.

I'd agree ... a lot of work to do before we are top four potential imo.

To Collingwood's credit, they kept a lid on it after they won it (from what I've seen). Completely different story to Hawthorn.
