I remember it must have been about 10-12 years ago (and probably as many pints down) disputing that an 'Indian-looking' supporter could actually be barracking for the Aussies on Boxing Day.

I wasn't aggressive or swearing or anything and it was only a few seconds... not like one of those bogan rants on the bus that people film, so I guess it was like a Lleyton Hewitt with the black line judge in the match against James Blake situation. No getting away from it, 100% racist and I still can't believe that garbage came out of me. I still think about it a lot as one of the shittiest things I've ever done.

But if Morris' rant was a 10, mine was like a 3.

For those who are fans of The Wire, it's like in season 1 when Orlando gets arrested and Levy says "You wanted to be in the game? Now you're in the game."

That's Morris and any of the current crop of footy journos who openly and deliberately become footy personalities. When there's an opportunity to knock them down a couple of pegs, there will be people keen to seize it.

You only have to be careful if you're putting on a facade in your professional/public life. I've been in a few "boys will be boys" banter groups in my time, but none of them would have gone anywhere near the Tom Morris zone.

If I'm reading this thread correctly though, I'm in the minority, that everyone else regularly expresses similar sentiments with their trusted circles and the key is to just make sure no-one's recording. Which is genuinely mind blowing to me.
