If the fat man and Fitzy do the honourable thing and fall on their swords who would you like to see take their places?
So you're saying they should do the honorable thing and resign, but Hird et al at Essendon remain largely unscathed?

The problem with wanting Demetriou out is that you have to come up with a better alternative and if that alternative is Gillon McLachlin then no thanks.

I don't have many issues with Mike Fitzpatrick besides his conflict of interest with ANZ stadium.

Glad any potential confusion is avoided with such a detailed OP and title.

Jeff Kennett is the only one with the balls to ask the AFL real questions about real issues which is probably why he has a bad name.

Maybe - but, the last thing the AFL needs is a former club president in charge of the competition.

If you look carefully at the AFL Commission there is genuine talent on it aside from Fitzpatrick that can do the job quite effectively.

I mentioned Bill Kelty before. Now Kelty has a long history in terms of big administration - after all he was with the ACTU throughout the 80's and 90's and working with the Hawke and Keating Federal Governments, and ACTU bosses like Simon Crean, helped to enshrine the Wages Accords, controlling wage increases and having a profound impact on Australia.

The other person I mentioned was Chris Langford - a former player and a man who understands the game and how to administer it, he is a great position to take over.

I think Bill Kelty has the experience to run the AFL at Commission level. Note, this is not because of his relationship with Essendon...but, his time with the ACTU itself.
He'll be 66 in Feb next year. Too old
