Sandliands - Best ruck in the comp by a mile
Ablett - Best mid in the comp and only 25
Pendlebury - Can play inside and out will be the next big thing only 23
Goddard - Can do it all
Franklin - Can play CHF or FF will kick 100 goals next year freak

I don't quite understand why people are selecting for the next decade, if you pick the best 5 in the comp now to complement your current list you sew up the premiership for the next five years (unless you relocate to New York).

1. Ablett
2. Goddard
3. Lake
4. Judd
5. N Riewoldt

If I was going strategically to weaken the best teams

1. Hodge
2. Judd
3. Didak
4. Swan
5. Goddard

Didak- Adds lots of x factor, hate him though
J.Riewoldt- Gun forward, him and Nick :)
Swan- Gives our midfield some steel.
Frawley- Gun young backman
Sandilands- Best ruckman.

St Kilda-
B-Gwilt Frawley Gilbert
HB-Gram Fisher Ray
M-Montagna Dal Santo Goddard
HF-Didak N.Riewoldt Jones
F-Milne J.Riewoldt Schnieder
R-Sandilands Hayes Swan
Int-Steven Dawson Armitage
Sub- Geary

Excellent use of the concept, rather than just naming the 5 players the working of em into the team is :thumbsu:

For Mine:

Lance Franklin at CHF, could move with Roo in between there and FF.
Ablett - Flank.
Goodes - HB Flank is a spot for him, but like Goddard he could play essentially where he wanted to.
Judd - Can't not have him in the side.
Chapman - Fully fit Paul chapman is a dangerous thing.

St Kilda-
B-Gwilt Dawson Gilbert
HB-Gram Fisher Goodes
M-Montagna Dal Santo Goddard
HF-Ablett L. Franklin Jones
F-Chapman N.Riewoldt Schnieder
R-Kosi Hayes Judd
Int-Steven Milne Armitage
Sub- Geary

Team would have changed if Rooke and Kirk hadn't gone this year with Rooke replacing probably franklin and Kirk Chappy.

Naitanui/Kreuzer: young ruckman
Franklin: freak, still young.
Frawley: best kpd for age.
Gibbs: young and skills. Would suit Cotchin and Martin, and could swap with Deliedo for half back.
Judd: the captain of the team. Best captain in the competition.

A FB, CHF, ruck and two mids, which equals Lake, Franklin, Sandi, Ablett and Swan.

I could pick Goddard, Judd, Hodge or Riewoldt, and it's very close. Fittingly enough IMO these are the top nine players in the league. Possibly a small forward or flanker type like LeCras or Didak given we struggle for forwards.

I do like naught5's idea of just picking mids and relying on the forwards to kick the goals though.

great thread :) no one can have a go at each other on this one

1. swan
2. ablett
3. judd
4. sandilands
5. riewoldt

Brian Lake
Brendan Goddard
Alan Didak
Jacob Surjan
Aaron Davey

FB Surjan Glass Schofield
HB Hurn Brown Goddard
C Gaff Kerr Sheppard
HF Lecras Kennedy Didak
FF Naitanui Lake Davey
R Cox Masten S Selwood
Int Waters Shuey Strijk
Sub Embley

Surjan is the best small defender in the league imo and represents a huge need for our team. A specialist instead of just playing a small midfielder down there.

Goddard. The tall version of shannon hurn. Would give the best rebounding half back line in the competition.

Didak. Collingwoods best player and the only mid sized forward in the league better than lecras

Brian Lake. The best full forward to have not played his career there. I still see it as one of the biggest travesties in AFL football of the last quarter century. Lake as a FF could kick 100 goals in a season imo.

Davey. The guy is just silk. Can play anywhere from the half back line to deep forward. Speed and silky skills.

Now i could have just gone and picked who i thought were the best 5 players in the league and gone well there you go. But i decided to add to our current list and build a team covering our major deficiencies.
