If you were to pick 22 players to form a side for the 2011 season, who would you pick to make the best side that you could expect? The only focus is 2011, no need to pick youth unless they are going to be the absolute best in 2011. What I'd like to see is who thinks what players are going to perform next year and what is expected of them.

For me:

B: James Gwilt - Zac Dawson - Chris Newman
HB: Harry O'Brien - Harry Taylor - Jack Grimes
C: Brendon Goddard (c) - Scott Pendlebury - Ryan Griffen
HF: Liam Jurrah - Nick Riewoldt - Dale Thomas
F: Mark LeCras - Jack Riewoldt - Lance Franklin
R: Aaron Sandliands - Luke Hodge - Dane Swan
INT: Mark Jamar - James Bartel - Stephen Hill
S: Matthew Pavlich

Michael Barlow a definite maybe, I left him out due to how difficult recovery is from an injury like that.

A few wild calls there, Newman the main one, but if Richmond climb the ladder he will become quite a prominent defender. Zac Dawson has played well in 3 grand finals now, and spanked Barry Hall in a prelim. Another year and a proper preseason (he was horribly ill this time last year) and I have faith he can be the best fullback in the comp.

Jurrah will flourish even more as the Melbourne playing group does. Is there anyone who dislikes him and the way he plays, anyway?

Pavlich is the perfect substitute, can come right on, play any role and just break a game open.

Bartel will blossom in a mortal Geelong side. A struggle brings the best out of him.

Make of the rest what you will. I'll bump this when the official 2011 AA side comes out.

Ths thread lost all credibility the moment I saw Dawson at FB ahead of Lake, Scarlett, Glass, Rutten, Silvagni, my dog etc...

Dawson over Lake? Surely this is a wind up.....

Wow, your rate SNOS that highly? Sure he's got a lot of promise but I doubt he's best 22 of Freo, let alone best 22 of the AFL - but I suppose you put Glass ahead of him which confuses me - unless of course you're just rolling off names of random backmen :D

Interesting post here, I'd go with a youthful team that could challenge..
B: N.Maxwell, Brian Lake, S.Gilbert
HB:Luke Hodge, Harry Taylor, Brett Deledio
C: Scott Pendlebury , Brendon Goddard, Stephen Hill
HF:Matthew Pavlich, Jonathon Brown, L.Montagna
F: A.Didak Jack Riewoldt E.Betts
Foll:Aaron Sandilands, Gary Ablett, Dane Swan
I/C Dustin Martin, Joel Selwood, Nick Riewoldt,
S: Adam Goodes

Lake is a good candidate, I guess, but I do indeed rate him above a 3X year old Scarlett, "gimme a hug" Rutten, and Glass who has failed to help out the worst team in the comp.

I named it wild call in the same post, if you disagree post your own, FFS.

How many more posts are going to be bitching about this? Jesus.

Just post your own and move along.

Dawson would ruin that team. So a couple of good games on Chris Dawes makes you a good player now does it? Just because he's not the worst now doesn't make him good.

Anyway, I've gone with a super team but also one that features players I'd love to see play together.

FB: Frawley Lake Harbrow
HB: Newman Grima Grimes
C: Hill Hayes Davey
HF: Bartel Franklin Pavlich
FF: LeCras J. Riewoldt Jurrah
Foll: Sandilands Goddard Ablett
Int: Cooney, Jamar, Pendlebury
S: Hodge

Obviously biased toward Melbourne but I believe Frawley and Jamar (both AA) deserve to be there, after that I want Aaron Davey and Stephen Hill on the wings, think it would be sensational to watch. Can't leave out Grimes as he's my favourite player and in a team that would win by close to 10 goals every week why not put Liam Jurrah in. He'd get so much opportunity to crazy stuff with the footy.

B: James Frawley Brian Lake Matthew Scarlett

HB: Corey Enright Heath Shaw Sam Fisher

C: Scott Pendulburry Luke Hodge Chris Judd

HF: Alan Didak Lance Franklin Steve Johnson

F: Cyril Rioli Nick Riewoldt Stephen Milne

R: Arron Sandiland Dane Swan Gary Abblett

INT: Darren Jolly, Jimmy Bartel, Jobe Watson, Leigh Montagna

i'd love to see heath shaw line up on Browny

At least we know one of Dawson's family members is a Bigfooty regular and he/she posts under LordJimmy, only logical explanation for that idiotic call.

I agree.
Chapman in for Milne and Griffen or Hayes for Watson and you have a decent team there.

Goddard needs to be included as well though. Swap him for Bartel and you have a winner.
