if you had to pick a team to play for your life who would you pick?

You're all on drugs.

I know I'm a Hawthorn supporter, but can you find a better Grand Final side than the Hawks in '89. They got belted physically and then went on to beat a team who boasted quite possibly the best player ever to win a Norm Smith. Actually, arguably could be the best player ever to turn out...

My vote sticks with them.

Obviously you wouldn't pick a soft modern video replay triple umpired side.

That Demon side which dominated the fifties and early sixties would be a fair option, but i'd go for one of the sides that played in the notorious bloodbath GF at the end of World war 2.

But under what rules and number of umpires is your dream team playing? If it's under modern rules, then yeah I would want a modern side.

Wouldn't really matter what rules they were playing under. An olden days side would be no match for a modern team.

It wouldn't be too difficult for a modern team to adjust to the roughness of old school footy. They'd just have to watch their backs and be a little more circumspect about putting their heads over the footy with guys coming at them.

But imagine the damage a modern team would do to an older era side with their superior fitness, pace, skills and tactics. Once they got the ball the older team wouldn't be able to touch it. Even the great Hawks sides of the 80's would have no chance of running out a game opposed to a modern team's fitness levels. They'd have loose men running off all over the field. The 2nd half would be a slaughter.

So I'd choose the Brissy threepeat team. All the advantages of a modern ultra fit, supremely skilled team but also full of hard nut desperados who wouldn't be intimidated in any era.

can people put in their ideas, without being bias here?!?!?!?

I'd choose the magnificent Freo team of R14-R22 2006.

9 games of dominance the likes of which the competition had never seen before and will never see again. Greatest team ever. FACT!!

Archer captain and Scott Burns vice captain. From there I’d take Josh Carr, Paul Licuria, J. Brown, Heath Shaw and Buckley, Voss, Hird, R. Harvey and Riccuito if I can include this year’s retirees in some sort of form. After that it’s just a matter of sprinkling in some pace and skill. That core of players play(ed) as if their lives depended on it week in week out year after year.

haha i had to bring this to the top,. too funny.. mate, its was the effin 20's. their competition was a bunch of steel workers and army officers... sheeez
As opposed to a bunch of play station junkies and Haircut hunters? Who would you rather play for life?
