Its amazing how quickly our great game has declined in so many facets of its existance.
Stupid rule changes, terrible Television scheduling and Players being fined for breathing near an umpire being the most obvious. At the current rate I will certainly not be watching footy anymore if it gets any worse than it already is, which I'm predicting will be about five years, of course I'll always watch the Eagles but apart from that forget it, I'll be off to watch my local league. I wonder how long it'll take some fans to get so frustrated and annoyed they too just cease watching footy, AFL you suck big time.

Seeya later Crissy. You're obviously not interested enough in footy in the first place. Go support another sport, such as car racing or rugby. Now that's what I call boring

The politics & beauracracy of the league doesn't interest me.

But as long as there are players around like Chris Judd, Dean Cox, Daniel Kerr, Gary Ablett Jr, Matthew Pavlich, Jonathan Brown etc - that is, players with the skill and class that make you jump out of your seat and turn to your neighbour and say "Did you just see that?!" - I'll always be watching :thumbsu:

if the standard of tv commentary keeps up i won't be watching it either. lucky for me i listen to footy on the radio as well. and i go to the footy every 5 weeks or so.
if you give up footy because of the rules then you were never a real footy supporter anyway.
do you think that the soccer rules are going to make it any easier to watch than footy?

I don't often agree with an Eagles supporter:eek: but that is SPOT ON.:thumbsu:

Exactly.

Last night's Showdown wasn't a great game and as expected the umpires were atrocious, but two things, Brett Burton's "mark" and Andrew Mcleod running rings around some Port players just had my jaw dropping. As long as AFL has players who can amaze people by two or three acts a game there will always be a large fan base:thumbsu:

Until they start wearing TU-TU's, i'll watch forever. Its the most exciting game in the world.

Nothing like sitting at a packed house, watching my team play in a Prelim final, and win, then onto next week !! :thumbsu:

And it doesnt matter who plays in the Grand Final, its a big day for me, full of anticipation. Wouldnt miss it for the world.

I agree the TV commentary could improve across the board this year (Thank the Lord for Cometti at least)...however there have been TV commentary complaints since year dot.

I mean some radio stations covering VFL/WAFL in the 70s I remember use to brag "turn down your television volume and watch the game listening to us" blah blah...

TV is not as a descriptive call as radio and thats why some of us prefer that medium.

Remember, we all used to bag out the Nine coverage as well...!

The biggest problem has been the number of people on the microphone these days calling the action, in the old days you would have two commentators...now you have two main callers, often a host, two special comments personnel and at least one boundary rider.

It all adds up to everyone contesting for air time on the microphone! I mean, how many times do you hear people talking over each other?

Food for thought....

The Trouble there is Chrissy is that you and many like you and sometime's me included , who give's a rat's

The new supporter's are alway's coming through , and the football thay see to day is the football that they will only know .

I'm not having a go at you , just giving my opinion , as an Auskick coach

As for the free kick's like HITB 30 yesr'a ago they did not do it , the player's just went for the mark , and that is what they are trying to stop , cheating and that is what HITB is cheating ,

And it is working the player's are learning to keep their eye's on the ball , and if you keep your eye's on the ball your hand's will do the rest . you see even though there is no HITB you can use your Knee's to ride em high 'oh Yeah
