Started out as a quick tournament.

Is now going far too long.

A 2 month tournament is the reason the international cricket calendar is ****ed.
The first one still went for 45 days. This one is playing 74 matches in 59 days and given they've promised 84 matches by 2025 and 94 by 2027 it's going to go to a tournament that will take at least 70 days to complete you'd think.

Almost 3 weeks is massive in the international cricket calander.

Does T20 franchise cricket actually mean anything besides players and corrupt Indian cricket officials with ties to mega oil companies becoming richer every year? Do people actually watch every tournament? What is the point of MI Cape Town?

I would replace oil with other means, like cements, telecoms, film industry, and other forms of black money.

People do watch every comp, it’s a the same people posting in these threads. It’s just that Aus and NZ have stayed away from privatising their t20 comps.

The issue is that the Indian franchises are now big enough to afford all the new leagues, and are willing to spend the money to make it an Indian focused event.

Harsha goes through some of the rule changes for this season
1. Being able to select your playing XI after the toss.
2. Impact player being able to be substituted during the game (still a max of 4 overseas players in the 12)
3. Teams are fined 5 runs if players move position whilst the bowler is running in
4. Overs needs to be completed after a certain time, otherwise less players outside the circle

1. I still like the idea of a team winning or losing with the XI they select before the toss. If they had to make a change, maybe 3 hours before the match teams should announce a squad of 15, then name your playing XI at the toss with the players 12-15 being the impact subs.

2. Fair enough. As Harsha said, the max of 4 overseas players rule is sacrosanct.

3. Was there an incident that was the catalyst for this rule?

4. Thank goodness!!!!!

What you're suggesting is already used in the BBL but name the squad a day in advance. The SuperSmash name their 12 man squad a day in advance.
Not sure how other leagues do theirs.

Is anyone here interested in IPL dream team? I made a team very quickly just now. I think since the competition goes for so long, i find it nice to have a look at fantasy to keep the games interesting. The site is Sportsdeck.
Hit me up with the code.
