Squads

Australia T20I squad: Alyssa Healy (c), Tahlia McGrath (vc), Darcie Brown, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Heather Graham, Grace Harris, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland

India T20I squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh Thakur, Meghna Singh, Anjali Sarvani, Devika Vaidya, S Meghana, Richa Ghosh (wk), Harleen Deol.

Terrible final over from Schutt conceding 18, helping India to a very competitive total of 5/172.

Perry was our best bowler, but only bowled two overs, followed by Sutherland who bowled three.

The Aussie girls needing 8.65 an over to win.

Australia's batting line up is going to be interesting without Lanning and Haynes. I would think McGrath and maybe Sutherland move up a spot or two, or Perry comes in at 4 followed by Gardner, Sutherland and Harris.

Something I thought about during the Strikers v Heat semi final: If you were to construct the quintessential Queensland women's cricketer (big and powerful but also a non-flashy blue collar type), she would surely look and play exactly like Tahlia McGrath.

On the flipside, for the last 40 years there's always been a crafty left-armer in the national team and they were all South Australians (Lyn Fullston, Joanne Broadent, Karen Rolton, Shelley Nitschke) until Jess Jonassen came along.

Well I was thinking about that again today, with the debut of Aussie Kim (who was born on Anzac Day) bringing up questions of identity and so forth. Appropriate then that the run chase be casually controlled by Beth Mooney (a Victorian, now playing her state cricket for WA), who btw probably could've batted with a Ping Pong paddle in the second half of that innings.

Good win by the girls in black. Terrific player is Mooney. Will Phoebe Litchfield make her debut next match.

India: Harmanpreet Kaur (capt), Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Devika Vaidya, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, Anjali Sarvani, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur.

India won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Australia make 2 changes from Game 1.

Litchfield and Heather Graham handed caps.

Highest ever partnership by Australia in this form of the game, home or away between Mooney and McGrath.
At the moment it is only the highest against India, the highest ever is 151, which they could pass this over.

Australia get to 187/1 off their 20 overs in Game 2.

new record for an Australian partnership.
And Gardner spends another 17 overs padded up without getting a bat, she'll have an awful case of pad rash.:D

Good innings all up but feel like they left a few runs out there trying and failing with those silly reverse sweeps and ramp shots when they were batting so well conventionally.
