I cant beleive everyone's having a crack at stanton. I thought his game was pretty solid. If your guna bag someone, then bag that wears number 4. He is clearly one of the shittest players at essendon. If anyones gota go at the end of the year its gota be him

If you've been reading, only a few senseless posters have had a go at him. The rest have defended him and rightly so as he played a great game. On Watson, he has had a couple of stinkers and can hopefully regain some of his touch. Has been gaining more attention at centre bounces and since round 1, hasn't been damaging out of the middle. Still our best clearence player though

Jobe is doing just fine. His contested footy work is the best in the side and how some people on here fail to realise that every week is beyond me.

We needed the first goal in the last.

From memory arounf 7 minutes had gone by without a goal to either team and i remember saying to my mate that the next goal is huge. Would have put us around 16 points up.
Yup, that was key. In retrospect with our injuries, even if we had kicked a few they still probably would have got over us, but it would have been a much tighter & more respectable finish

Do you also fail to see how many turn overs a game he does? Or how any opposition player just strolls away from him? His last 3 weeks have been terrible.

I agree, apart from round 1 where he was fantastic, his last 3 rounds have been poor by his standards.

He will bounce back...

Unfortunately Watson will be basically the only player who can get it out of the pack with the loss of McVeigh. I'm going to assume that JJ would be an inclusion this week.

... the fact that we have to face St Kilda and Collingwood without some very handy players.

On Stanton, if I were the opposing team, I would try and put him in pressure situations where he would have to make very quick decisions. He's more likely than not to kick the ball blindly as far as he can, often leading to a turnover.

Although a great runner and must have great endurance, he does tend to take the softer option. Until he leaves a pound of flesh on the field, like recent owners of the #5 have, I suppose he'll always be perceived as a somewhat selfish player.

I dont know how many he ended up with but looked at the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter and Stants had the most contested possessions. Previous games he has been a bit soft but don't think ya can call him soft after Friday night.

The selectors thinking that Hille and Laycock could ruck all game and also play forward as a leading option.

They ran out of juice in the end with Paddy having to finish the game in the middle. The doggies out run us half due to the injuries we had but also cause our big fella's were stuffed.

They need to pick a leading forward this week to replace lloyd and lucas, even if he is only a decoy it will help our structure and also Hille and Laycock run out the game.

IMO i thought we were a sitting duck at 3/4 time and said so to a few mates that we wouldn't win from there.

U could see we were out on our feet with the efforts we put in in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. The boys ran themselves into the ground.and were always going to tire.
