If you believe what we hear about Knights when he was interviewed, he rates it a good list to take control of.

yeh he prob still does but there is a few there that he would want out . and an extra 30 to 40 games under alot of our younger players and things could b different

Just remember, you asked for this...

Ryder - Right choice
Dempsey - Right choice
Neagle - Alipate Carlisle/Ryan Gamble
Lonergan - Matthew Stokes.
Camporeale - Jason Porplyzia
McKinnon - Jason Roe
Hocking - Matt Priddis
Firman - Cheynee Stiller
O'Keefe - Ben McGlynn

Now i know its in hindsight blah blah blah... But that is what we COULD have had, not that im complaining about what we do have mind you.

You just picked every player that has made it from pick 30+.

If you look at each clubs picks then it would be a very different story. No one gets 7 picks right.

I'd say we'd be a handful of clubs who are pretty wrapped with their picks for that year.

Im not saying "Oh man, we did crap". The reality is those players were there to be picked. Youre right though, no club is going to get all those picks right. Annd as I said in my original post, Im happy with who we ended up with

I didnt whinge that you criticised Reimers, everyone is entitled to their opinion, I was just annoyed that you called me an idiot for voicing my opinion.

Mate my original response wasn't directed at you, it was directed at the number of people in this thread who were abusing Stanton for no reason. And there are a few, look back and see.

I was just using Reimers as an example as how one-eyed some of these guys can be. That they can hang shit on Stanton all day while pumping up Reimers tyers, despite the fact that Stanton had a better game than Reimers this and every other week.

Mate my original response wasn't directed at you,
It was directed to "those idiots who had reimers in their top three players". Well I was one of those "idiots". Its my opinion, and the opinon of others. Its bad enough that you knock other peoples opinions, but even worse when you cant accept criticism of your opinion from others. The Essendon board is a two way street, you have to learn to respect other peoples opinions, and then you might get some respect back.

Why does EVERY thread have to get bought back to drafting?

Either who we should have taken or who we should take.

We have plenty of threads for those things.

Let's get back on topic and sorry i was guilty of going off topic also.

If bringing a 30 year old premiership player who can help develop the youngsters is taking a backward step then im a monkey's uncle. Our two best players today (argueably) were Hislop and Reimers. What do they have in common? They go hard at the ball! JJ does exactly that. He can help set an awesome example to the rest of the guys.

And for those who reckon JJ is too old, think of this. What kind of position would the St.Kilda midfield be in now without the tutelage of Robert Harvey for the past 8 years?

Didn't know monkeys could use computers ;)

The difference in that argument is that Harvey still had/has something to offer whilst Johnno Im afraid hasn't got what it takes. For me he doesn't have a spot in the seniors. I've got Mcphee, Watson and NLM coming in ahead of JJ and would rather see the young guys show what they learned playing against a hardened side in Sydney against the softer Fremantle outfit.

I in Sydney for the end of last week so i missed the team changes. Why was Watson left out? injured of dropped? we REALLY needed him in the middle yesterday.

Watson was injured with a bruised back so we didnt want to fly him up for any further risks. Should be right to play agains flogmond.

Can people asking for JJ of 2008 to come in and do a JJ of 2001-5 please stop.

He is a shadow of his former self and offers little grunt and little run. Not sure if you guys saw his first two games but he wasn't at the bottom of the packs.

I'd want the changes to be something like this:

Ins: McPhee, NLM, Watson
Outs: Neagle Laycock Daniher

It will give us some experience and hardness back in.

If Winderlich can't run due to injury then bring Nash in. If we need another bigger guy forward then we might leave one of Daniher or Neagle in. Daniher would be my choice as Neagle will blow up after the first quarter.

Ins Watson, McPhee and Pears
Outs Winderlich (obviously injured), Slattery and Rama

On a side note cant believe that Johns got dropped after keeping tredrea to one goal, best game he has played for essendon, obviously no match up for him last week.

Best game stanton has played for sometime

Would keep Monfries in side this week, his disposal was the worst I can remember but he is finding the pill which is a start, would have put him HFF as tends to kick better when forward of centre.

With a game under Jetta, McVeigh, Neagle, Meyers, Hislop they will be better and we will hopefully beat the tuggers.

Lloyd was not worst on, not his fault that we only had about 2 inside 50's in the last quarter (one of which he marked and the umpire said not 15m), he probably needs to come down the ground more and leave Neagle 1 out in the square. They need to get it right as in 2 weeks will have lucas and gumby there aswell.

Agree with you completely what made Laycock deserve a game before Johns. Johns played well in the ones Laycock played well in the 2's. And Ryder looked pretty good in the ruck against Port i thought and good when he moved forward.

Johns now been injured is unfortunate micky o kicked 6 anyway might of been less with Johns but probably would have stayed the same and Ryder would have done better in the ruck then laycock.

Bit of a dilemma for the selction team now by playing Laycock after dropping him for one match. Drop him again they look like idiots or play him and hope he can do something. Offers nothing up forward and his best hitout for the match was to Sydneys advantage.

get over this sheedy knights stuff. sheedy has left us with this list. so he isnt gonna help us. let knights have a couple of years to bulid who he wants at the club,

Excellent post. See you can do it:p

To amend what I said before (forgot Watson for a start):

IN: McPhee, Watson
OUT: Daniher, Winderlich

It may also be worth considering Pears to come in, because we may end up lacking in the key back department if Ryder spends time up forward/in the ruck/running with Richo. Not sure which small you'd drop for him though.

Slattery kept O'Keefe pretty quiet yesterday, and Monfries found a lot of the ball, despite butchering it; he deserves another chance.

Not the week to drop Laycock, because we'll need a few talls this week.

Fletcher, Michael -> whichever two are playing key forwards
Ryder/McPhee -> Richo
Ryder/McPhee -> CHF
Lloyd, Neagle -> Key forward.

That probably leaves us needing to bring Pears/NLM in anyway.

No matchup for Johns against Sydney. Even Mal hardly had one.

And Laycock was BOG for Bendigo.
