If swanny, Harry, daisy, and Heath go we are stuffed. We can cover daisy, maybe even shaw... But swan and Harry also would be the greatest removal of talent from a club in the history of the game... I doubt bucks is going to want to bottom out next year, so he'll keep what he sees as a fair balance of quality and remove enough crap to ensure this club is still in with a chance for next year..... I have no doubt we will be 2-6th next season. Bucks might be angry but he is very intelligent and driven. He will make us the man u of the afl.

I'm not saying you're wrong...

But what evidence do you have that tells you Bucks is heading the right direction??

For all we know, Magpies would be Western Bulldogs or Brisbane Lions win/loss ration this season if the pies didn't have the classy players in Pendles, Swan etc.

Basically I don't know how good Buckley is...
The only thing I know is he is willing to blood youth...

Is been rumoured that Patrick Karnezis will meet with Collingwood during the week. Karnezis reportedly skipped out on Brisbane's best and fairest on Friday night, after telling the club he was moving back to Melbourne.

Karnezis has been heavily pursued by Collingwood, which is understood to be his preferred club but the Lions say they will only do deals that benefit the club, insisting that the likes of Karnezis, Yeo, Polec and Longer will go to clubs that are the highest bidder, not at the choice of the player.

That is not new news but I reckon we will get him

I've heard we're making a big play for Dustin Martin. Some decent cap space set to be free'd up with the likes of Shaw and Thomas leaving. What do you guys think? I'd love Dusty at the pies!

Ok. Well its long thread of several opinions :) As to be expected.

Some of you on this thread however are just angry people with the short term memory of a goldfish.

A) Jolly. I guess it was about time to move him on both for his own good and ours. Hopefully he can have one more year elsewhere. Respect as he was decisively responsible for us winning our first flag in ages. He's had many flags himself now so thanks for the service Jolly and you should always be welcome at Pie land.

B) Those calling for Heath Shaw's head on a plate complete with apple sauce and apple in mouth need to calm down. Heath Shaw is a strong player for us and should absolutely not be moved on unless the trade is adequate. Problem is I doubt other clubs would offer an adequate trade as he has more value playing for us than playing for them. Is he a perfect A+ grade player? No. Sometimes he can be but on the whole he's a solid B+.

I would only condone moving on Heater by behind the scenes people ie Bucks or others. If his attitude is poisonous to the group and future direction he must go. If his public brain fades are simply the entirety of the iceberg rather than the tip then he should stay and we just have a ritalin popping dude on our list as we always knew...but he is a good servant.

C) Didak et al. Thanks for the time given but I think its time to break up the pack and end that era. Pendles, Cloke, O'Brien, what remains of Swans time+Ball and the newcomers who have impressed aka Seedsman are the nucleas around which another flag in 4-5 years is still possible. But our current group of talent player this year must have 2-3 good solid A performers in it. Seedsman definitely looks the goods for me.
Sidebottom is continuing to NOT develop upwards IMHO but is not bad. But he could be better I feel.

D) Backline is in rough shape. But hopefully with the development of Keefe + return of Toovey and the rise of an as yet unsighted backline player will see it become respectable again. Brown is goign ok but he needs to return to his genuinely good form. next year is a must standout year for brown. Not saying he's poor but he has the capacity to be great but thus far is a middling player.

E) Pendlebury MUST be made captain next year its time for a sea-change between generations to be seen both as a symbol and of substance.

F) Lets hope Brodie Grundy develops into a fantastic ruck which he defnitely looks the goods for now. Unfortunately we need a #2 and right now thats nobody I know of? Or is it witts? And as we all know its hard to keep 2 solid ruckmen on your list because one gets shitty from not playing games.

G) In short we need to let Reid have a good pre-season as I do think based on the experiment this year he can be a force in the forward line again which he fluffed in early career. Just needs some bulk and training of how to play there. Smalls are fine. Midfield we need our current mids to continue to improve + either Daisy to return to form or a Dustin Martin type to join.

Our backline is where the issue is. Other fields of the ground for the most part are doing ok and it all really depends on natural development + the pre-season that could see us most definitely continue to be top4 next year. But the backline is of genuine concern and I'd feel safer having another hard nut midfielder or if not that Daisy returning to form.

Beams, Ball, Pendles, Swan, Seedsman + Daisy or Dustin martin. Seriously thats nothing to laugh at.

Not at the reported $700000 and a 4 year contract. Plus he would gain automatic membership of whatever remains of the brat pack, and if its members are gone, he will form a new pack.

What?

Youre having a laugh I assume, he was absolutely ATROCIOUS Saturday night, can boot right off - front runner, his lack of accountability was staggering, and these mythical footskills aren't there

This came from the same source as my much derided comments on what went down with Harry O and Bucks, which turned out to be 100% accurate. Does this mean that this news from the same source is 100% iron clad? Time will tell. For those who like a well sourced piece of gossip- Thomas is gone(Carlton) Jolly, Krakoeur, Maxwell, Didak, delisted and Heath Shaw wants out.

Hmm just got a message from my contact and was told something very similar. Again, believe me or dont, thats up to you... this is just what I was told, and may or may not come to fruition...
Daisy gone :(, Maxwell gone, Dids gone, Shaw gone.... and the one that makes me sad... Swan wants to go to whichever one Dids or Shaw goes to.
Again, believe it or dont. I trust my contact, but I guess with everything, things are subject to change.

Swan gone would be a disaster. All the other changes I could handle. Swan is the most interesting and likable person we have at the club.

Again, it may not happen. Just what the current word is.
I'm with you though, I would be shattered if he left. My fav player. Would just feel wrong and dirty to see him in other colours.

Awesome! Well done club, handling things very well as usual.

If it works out that this is true and Daisy gone, Dids gone, Shaw gone and now Swan gone then I'll be very hard at looking into NT.Thunder gone!

Were Dane Swan to really ask for a trade to wherever another team mate goes, that would be ridiculous and big-girl's-blouse-y of him. Plus it would be almost impossible for the club to pull off... and all of that to make a player that's contracted to the end of next year happy elsewhere?

Makes no sense and I don't buy it.

Daisy leaving is obviously a possibility, we'll see. Pick 11 and cap space if he goes. Maxy will stay as they signed him up for another year - question is just whether he is captain or not. Dids I can see being shown the door. Heater I could see being offered for the right deal. If he stays, move him from the backline. My opinion anyway.

You do realise that none of that has actually happened yet, don't you? I mean, you say as much in the next line, but why have a go at the club for things that haven't happened yet?

Look at it this way... Imagine what a club would have to give up to get a contracted Dane Swan from us.

I don't have any evidence. I have faith in the people that put him in charge and the man himself. His track record as coach is more than reasonable. In 2 seasons we have won around 65% of our games with a list which seems to have varying issues ranging from injuries to key personnel, rumours and innuendo, player disunity, prez with foot in mouth syndrome and the like.

Given another preseason, the further bolstering and pruning of our list I can't see how we will be going backwards next year.

I have faith that when Pert, Walsh, Eddie and Co made the decision they looked at all areas of the handover, and I'm sure they looked at coaches other than bucks , and picked him on the basis that this man has all the right attributes to push our club forward successfully over the next few seasons.

So no, I don't have any evidence, just faith that powers that be at pie land are doing the right thing to move this club forward.

Sorry, I thought we had all morphed into the land of hypothetical.......**** me if we couldnt post threads or comments on shit that has never happened then bigfooty wouldn't exist.
I'm just playing the game in here with others, I mean, this is where all the trades are conducted between clubs in the real world right!

Before we rip into posters, let's look a the likelihood of the players mentioned leaving.

Daisy - RFA - Likely - If offered a big contract Collingwood will not match it. Severe injury risk.

Jolly - Delisted - Likely - Getting old, injuries and not performing.

Krakouer - Delisted/Retired - Likely - Getting old. Wants a role mentoring indigenous youth.

Maxwell - Delisted/Retired - Likely - Getting old. Club would definitely offer him a coaching role.

Didak - Delisted/Retired - Likely - Getting old. Club wants to create space on the list.

Shaw - Traded - Likely - Still a good player but has lost all discipline. If Club can get a good deal, they will have to consider it.

Swan - Traded - Unlikely - Too good of a player to be traded lightly. Would have to be a bumper deal with a player and high draft pick for Club to take it.

That's cool, you can comment all you like - I'm not a mod, ha!

You're right though, once the season is over and draft and trade action is still a while away, there's not much else to talk about, hey? I just didn't get why we'd get all worked up over "my mate was at the pub, and the owner's cat walked by and said he worked at the club and that so and so is being traded to Carlton/GWS/Real Madrid", especially when the trade doesn't even make sense. :thumbsu:

Agree with most of that. Jolly is confirmed, rather than likely by the way.

I'd have Heater as possible rather than likely - all depends on what we can get for him as he's contracted for 2 more years. We hold all the chips in that particular game.

Swan's going nowhere. As you say, if he left it would be in a ripper of a trade.

Our culture was a good one though. It was winning one. Every one felt comfortable, every one enjoyed each others company, the results were good.

Why did we have to tear the walls down and rebuild it from scratch?

It's mind boggling.

As the great coach Phil Jackson of Chicago Bulls, LA Lakers fame with 11 championships, good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the Me for the We.

That didn't happen post 2010. You never hear Hawthorn or Geelong players constantly in the media.

Jolly 99% yes, but hasn't been confirmed by Club yet. Just media articles.

I would imagine they are waiting to announce all the delistings at the same time.
