500,000T of lithium isn’t very much. Not saying they don’t have more but that’s what the article reports.The reason I posted this here is that Janus may have been right. Maybe the main reason russia invaded Ukraine was to have control over Ukraine’s resources. Janus did post early on that it was all about Ukraine’s resources.
This is for all those who still haven’t understood that this war is not about NATO, protecting the Russian-speaking population, fighting against fascists, protecting Christian values or whatever other blather Putin has come up with.

Sure, maybe it’s worth $26T but the two examples they provided don’t substantiate value beyond $1B (and I’m being generous with cost per T there for Li).
A mine may be sold “cheap” if the owner doesn’t have the resources or know how for development.
My point was to approach these numbers with some cautiousness as there is a big difference between having something in the ground and being able to commercialise the opportunity. I actually think there is some element of truth in the article, but the article doesn’t do a good job of demonstrating the point.

russia will not stop at Ukraine even if Ukraine cede land. It might take 85 years but russia will invade again. It won’t necessarily be Ukraine but history shows that an imperialistic russia will invade again.
