The majority of bullying would occur at school. Plus from my limited knowledge of why someone would take their own life it would be many things that led to that decision. Singling it out to one reason of social media is incorrect is not going to change the numbers taking their life in the slightest. I think you will find that if schools actually taught kids some life skills instead of DEI, trans shows for kids and the myriad of woke rubbish they taught in the education system they would be better able to deal and cope with bullying. The govt should also stay out of the relationship between parent and child. It's up to parents to monitor what their kids are doing online. Lets be honest here the govt is using this bill to introduce their digital identity and central bank digital currency. We all know we are heading down the CCP path where if you think something which the govt deems to be not in their best interests they could easily switch off their digital currency or limit how a person can use it. The left is very quick to make knee jerk reactions which decrease our freedoms while not adequately dealing with the problem. All the left cares about is power and that's why they are being voted out just about everywhere.

Do we recall the freedom convoy protests in Canada in 2022 as a protest to Vaccine mandates. A peaceful protest. The bank accounts were frozen, GoFundMe accounts cancelled. The government/police said they were concerned about the convoy has attracted extremist. The Canadian government invoked Emergencies Act due to blockades and protests over Covid-19 measures. Personal and corporate accounts were frozen. financial institutions were being given the power to suspend or freeze personal or corporate accounts they believe are being used to fund illegal protests.

They literally stopped the protest by turning off any money the truckers had.

In summary they can conrol your very existance.

Just jumped on to see what new topics other than TDS are being discussed and saw this. Its who polices what is no good and what is thats the problem. We all saw what happened when the left had a full strangle hold on social media and conservatives and their positions were silenced whilst whatever the narrative of the day the left wanted to peddle was deemed the right speech. So if you are going to have a digital ID where everytime you log on, the government watches your internet usage and can ban you or use the law against you for wanting to access content that does not fit their narrative - no thanks, not for me.

Also, its not lost on most of us that this disinformation bill was nowhere to be seen when the left had full control of social media - now that Elon has broken that stranglehold and they can't control him, they want to prevent people using his service.

Maybe, but there was no disinformation bill that sat over the top of it where people can be controlled to what they can and ca't access on it. They won't even restrict 1% of potential information out there & i very much doubt it will be missed.

Any decent free speech will still be allowed.

If the majority of people don't like legislation we can vote them out the next election. If you don't like it Russia, you have no say & unfortunately you may be killed of you complain.

And this is the crux of it - who gets to determine what is acceptable and what is not. I simply don't trust the government to employ fair minded people to do that policing role. Did you live in Australia during covid? We went full Dictatorship, locking people up in camps who didnt even have covid. We rivalled China for who could lose the plot the most.
