So the Biden Administration has created over 16.6m jobs and unemployment at 4.1%. US interest rates probably on hold now until the Federal Reserve assesses impacts of Trump’s policies - only two interest rate cuts forecast for 2025 whilst some US Banks think now no further interest rate cuts in 2025.

Interesting to see what the next 4 years brings but the odds are on a recession given previous Republican Administrations (every single Republican Administration has had one since 1980).

The LA fires really show how much of a third world country the USA really is.

Climate change aside, yes it is a real thing, there really should not be such devestation.

Defunding the fire departments and land management to save a few million dollars.

Then having to borrow equipment from Canada.

Such a ****ed up country.

Climate change is too far gone.

We need to take an "adapt or die" approach. Very few of the measures in place actually help Climate Change.

Sure they help.on the micro level. An EV does not emit pollutants. But it still needs resources and pollutants to be created and used.
On a macro level, the impact is negligible.

Instead prepare for life with switching weather patterns and uncertain natural events.

Unfortunately it can get a lot worse.

It's about limiting how bad now

Firefighters are socialism gone mad.

Yep, limit and adapt.

Given our entire economic model and way of living is based on production and spending money, (using resuorces) we have no hope of turning it back.
Yep, but limiting is still doing what we are doing.

Renewables and EVs are the way we will decarbonise quickest.

Not 3rd world, rather than poorly run with key decisions made.

Not having water to fight the fires.
Not managing bushland fire loads.

I'm sure plenty of questions will be asked & hopefully lessons learnt for a smarter rebuild.

Just terrible to have whole neighbourhoods wiped out.

Unfortunately there are now more extreme weather events... so we do need to do more to improve our climate... or we will only get more extreme events.

TBF and in the interests of accuracy, apparently the planes / choppers were already being leased from Canada, they didn't "have to borrow" them.
Normally in these circumstances you grab resources from far & wide too.

I'm surprised given the size of the USA that more resources were not brought in asap once they knew it was rather dire.
