Record membership of over 70,000 this year coming off a disastrous 2016 season.

The Tiger Army has come alive in this finals series with two 90,000+ crowds.

We have the best player and newly crowned Brownlow Medallist.

We're playing attractive, reliable, skilful football.

And we could be unfurling a premiership flag in 2018.

I say an emphatic YES.

Even Collingwood only managed 80,000 one year. 100,000 is not very likely. 80,000 yes, 100,000 no.

We’re gonna need a bigger G

but we're coming out of the woodworks.

walking down swan st on sat night was insane, i have never seen anything like it. wait until the GF parade

More members would be disappointing, it equals bandwagon IMO.

The salivating over membership numbers for the past 30 years has been acceptable as it has shown that people stick by their club no matter where they are placed. But if it's after success, the upwards counting feels tacky and Hawthorn like of recent times.

Sadly unless you can get a membership which guarantees you a GF ticket then after the experiences people have endured this week I think people may start to stay as members , but downgrade to cheaper ones. Discussions with fellow Tigers has been about them downgrading and if anybody has noticed all the memberships which guarantees your a GF ticket have been sold out for 2018.
I'm not sure how many of the guaranteed GF memberships there are and then how many the club are allocated in total, but assuming there are 20k then 50k plus will miss out. Ding dong do your maths. Downgrade with the option then pay five bucks to go in a ballot if we make the GF and if you miss out then it's not as demoralising. AFL Gold memberships are the go or bloodsucking off friends and families who have one.
Until the AFL allocate more tickets to clubs that are competing in the GF then non GF memberships are meaningless except for financial support for the club . All this week has shown to me is that clubs wil eventually smarten up and make more memberships that are corporate and more expensive and the cattle class will never get a look in.
This week has given me another reason why I don't venture in that bs thread talking up the membership tally.

Reckon there will be a few members that drop off after realising their 3-game membership gets them no where near the grand final.
I get the 3 game cause that's generally the number of games i tend to get to since my reliable game day buddy moved away. It's actually deerer than just buying the tickets each game but I don't mind.

85,000 next year to rise if we're there abouts in 2018. Add another 5,000 if we get the Women's license. So why not 100,000 we could easily crack the 85,000 - 90,000 next year. Pretty amazing really and would put an end to the debate of which is the biggest club in no uncertain terms...well at least in the short term ;)

I'm not too fussed about missing the grand final. If you really must be immersed in the atmosphere around Richmond there are plenty of pubs within walking distance of the mcg where you can watch it. I will be upgrading my membership. I saw more games this year than I expected and it could go up again next year. That's what's important to me, watching the boys on their journey.
