Is Collingwood's Forward Line The Best in the League

fraser = quality tall???????
c'mon mate, he's tall but you couldn't cassify him as quality.
essendon have lloyd, lucas and hille. there's three quality talls going on the way that the word quality is lightly being thrown around...
add hird, lovett and rioli and we'd have to come close.
definately not a lay down mazare

Let's have a look at it.

Half Forward: Buckley, Rocca, Fraser
Full Forward: T Cloke, Tarrant, Caracella

Part time forwards: Rusling, Didak, L Davis, B Holland, Egan.

That's a pretty a......

I’d rank the Pies forward line at about 11th-12th in the comp – assuming they’re all fit.

Buckley? – he isn’t a forward
Rocca – the best the Pies have. Injury prone
Fraser – very ordinary
T Cloke – by far the best of the Clokes, but nothing special
Tarrent – just can’t kick goals, has lost his way over the past 2-3 years. Terrible under pressure. Close to being traded this year
Caracella – top-up player getting close to retirement. Nothing special

Not much to get excited about. :)

This must be a joke.... St Kilda has far and away the best forward line in the competition....

Hamill Kossi Whichever one of Ball, Harvey or Dal Santo
Milne Gehrig Riewoldt.

No other side could even have a claim to be able to match them for forward line firepower.

As a forward line i think it's very strong but a little brittle injury wise, it's rarely been able to show what it's capable of.

It's a good line on paper, but it's gotta click. Hopefully Waynkery helps Malthouse up with his set ups and it starts clicking soon.

Funny how Tarrant is considered crap for 1.9 goals over the course of his career playing as a fast roaming tall forward, whereas Riewoldt averages 1.7 and it is considered a good return!

If you offered me Collingwoods forwardline or Essendons it wouldn't even be a contest, Travis Cloke held down CHF in his first year, with Fraser, Rocca and Tarrant thats 4 quality tall forwards, with class crumbers like Didak and Caracella and a host of kids like Rusling and Egan on the rise... Essendon had a forwardline a few years back but its rubbish now

We have rubbish? Lloyd has one poor season(still kicked 59 goals) and he is finished  Lucas kicked 51 goals despite playing in the back half at various stages. Lovett 25 goals. Not claiming we have the best forward line as i belive the Saints have that covered but ours isnt too bad.

the difference is how both play the game ;)

well if tarrant went to training or cared about how he played, buckley doesnt do his hammy game after game, rocca stays fit. cloke improves, fraser plays forward instead of ruck and carracella plays like he did this year then you might just have a case to argue to be the 5th best in the league

I think you should do a bit of research before you make silly comments mate. I used to play footy with one of Tarrants mates, and this year was a misery for him, at the start of the pre season the club found a cyst on the back of his knee which was not far off becoming cancer if they didnt manage it, it was on the back of his kicking leg. So just please read up on things before you make comments.

Our forward line looks good if they can all stay fit with no injuries, you have to expect some injuries throughout the year, thats just part of the game but i think that Rocca, Tarrant, Didak, Buckley can make the most of the difference.

I think it would be a good idea to rotate Rusling and Tarrant through FF and CHF. The one to watch will be Travis Cloke to see if he has the so called "2nd year blues".

With minimal injuires Collingwood are a better team that 15th, i would place them somewhere between 6th to 8th.

I prefer

Rioli (fit) Lucas Lovett
Hird Lloyd Laycock

But I'm byast

I'm sorry but Rioli needs to lose about 10 kg, i saw him not long ago and he doesnt look fit at all. No other player in the league plays with all the extra weight, (mabye Whitnall). he should be more professional and watch how he goes about managing a balanced diet.

Maybe you should do some research as well ;) He did drop a number of kilo's for the start of last season. With the build he has it is very hard to keep fit if you are injured ;)

It's a subjective illusion. Tarrant busts a gut on his leads as hard as anyone in the comp. He's no "Dummyspit" Richo either, despite the poorest delivery in the comp!

Riewoldt is better, but then there aren't many better. Taz was playing all year whilst requiring knee surgery. If St Nick did that, he'd be bronzed and put out the front of the Hall of Fame, whereas Tarrant gets flogged for supposedly not trying hard enough.

I think Taz will get All Oz this year if he stays as fit as he is. I also forsee a move up the ground. End crystal ball transmission.

I agree.Richo use to openly "dummyspit" whereas Tarrant does it in a more quiet manner.
Your right it is a subjective illusion. :)

Tarrant is one of the worst kicks for goal in the comp ..He's just not good enough in that department to be rated amongst the best forwards.

re your crystal ball ...I read one of your old posts where you had Josh Fraser as the ultimate footballer ..who would revolutionize the way the game is played ...i guess your ball was a little hazy that day huh ? ;)

Blues pretty handy as well:
HF. Waite Whitnall Fisher
F. Lappin Fevola Betts
Not being biased but would much rather the above :thumbsu:

Was fantastic in the 2002 GF, almost single handedly won the premiership in the last quarter and then backed it up in the 2003 grand final by being Collingwoods best player in a thrashing, the enormous wraps that were put on him when he was drafted (ie: ridiculous statements like he was the next Lockett) have built in unrealistic expectations about him, had his injury worries of late too

Is Collingwood's Forward Line The Best in the League

Not even in the best 12.

Tarrant - Hack
Fraser - Hack
Buckley - Twang
Rocca - Servicable
Caracella - Part time hack
Cloke - Done nothing
Didak - Over rated
Holland - Fiddler
Davis - Hahahahahahahahaha

They may be the most over-rated Fwd line, but not even near the best 6-12 in the comp.

Also, there is a school of theory that suggest you need some midfielders to get the ball foward.. Collingwood dont have any.

Go to a game and watch Ryan O'Keefe and Barry Hall. They work alot harder than Tarrant on the lead.

totally awesome and unstoppable.

Our defense doesn't sleep thinking about them.
And who's in your forward. Perrie and Welsh are really going to do some damage next year, aren't they? Typical response from a moronic south australian.

You, my friend, are a moron of the highest degree. I can't wait to see Richmond back down at 16th where they belong this year after they did what carlton did in 04 and win some games and miss out on the priority pick, which ultimately slowed their progress. And now the priority pick is gone, so have fun rebuilding when Richo retires and Brown wheels around in his chair.
You had twang for Buckley, what about a giant SNAP for Brown.

hey, whats the deal with putting your best midfielder and starting ruckman into the forward line only when posting on a "look at our great forward line" thread

can someone post collingwoods midfield without buckley and fraser? methinks it might look a bit sick
They rotate in and out of the midfield.
Ruckmen: Richard, C Cloke, Fanning
Midfield: Burns, Licuria, Egan, Holland, Ellis (Hurn), R Shaw, Didak, Lonie, + other midfieldiers from draft.

You think I give a damn what you think about Richmond?

Clearly you have shown in your initial post in this thread you know nothing, and severley over-rate a hack of a foward line.
