Hi all,

As almost all of us have Higgins in our team we have an important decision to make this week. Will you upgrade Higgins or keep him in your team for the rest of the year?

I am leaning toward trading him at this stage. I never though of him as a keeper from the start. He has impressed me a tremendous amount though.

Reasons to upgrade him;

1. Injury worry. A few people on the Doggies forum are saying that its osteitis pubis? That means managing it with rests when it flares up. Missed games, reduced output.

2. Return to form of Cooney will no doubt take away midfield time or impact from Higgins.

3. His 100+ scores have come against Freo, Richmond and West Coast. Three very unaccountable teams and likely to finish near the bottom of the ladder. Against the more accountable teams he has scored 65, 92 and 68.

4. Doggies have a tough run coming up.

5. He has made enough money now and will likely maintain or drop his value in the future.

6. Close to a straight swap for Buddy.

Reasons to keep him;

1. There are plenty more troubles in your team.

2. Blows a trade.

Let me know what you guys are thinking.

On the news last night they said he's likely to play and the coach said he's close. Although I don't reckon he will you'd think he'd be right for next week. He's averaging 100. My trades are much needed elsewhere at this stage

I originally planned him to be a cash cow. But he may be offering enough to stay, and save me using a trade.

No need to hit the panic button yet anyway. If he goes out injured for a long period in say round 14 and has dropped 50k from now it is no issue in by books.

i wouldnt think too many people would be making that decision 'this week'.

as others have said, there are clearly bigger problems in most teams. Definitely worth a look for another 6 weeks to see a) if he is injured and b) if he is going to continue to score well.

I was hoping to keep the best 1 or 2 out of
Gilbert/Schammer/Krakouer/Higgins

At this stage only Gilbert is a full season keeper for me.
The rest should be upgraded, but I'm talking about later like finals time (r17-r21)

btw I voted "Yes (lack of trades)" but there was no option "No, but not yet"

Clearly the other 3 should be upgraded. But that is in an ideal world.

With so many injuries this season i doubt many people will have the luxury of upgrading both Higgins and Kraks.

He is most definitely a keeper, if fit. Big if. Personally, even if he overcomes this bout of groin soreness we are only one thrid of the way through the season and the chances of him playing out the whole season effectively seem remote at best. He is therefore on the trade block but will have to wait his turn.

I'm keeping Gilbert, Higgins and Lovett (BTW. It seems that my Lovett risk has payed off. Averaging exactly 100 over the past 5 weeks.:D). Krackouer will be the only "mid" priced player that I will trade.

talk me out of the Higgins to Buddy straight swap everyone...it seems a monty at this stage of the season.

I have other problems than higgins and lack of trades so I'll be keeping him.

I think the main concern is if he is showing early sings of OP

Its not an easy thing to get over. Or an easy thing to play with. The decision will rest on what trades you have got planned/ left and what areas you have cover for a while

Ideal is that he does not play until the 1st week back from midseason break so he doesn't drop in price and see how he performs then....

With any luck the Doggies will stick him in the treatment room for a few weeks to make this decision much easy for us all!

Have changed my mind. He needs to go. Talk of giving him 6 weeks rest suggests that even if he plays he will struggle.

Not a trade I wanted to do.
