Rumour has it that this is the case. If true, i am absolutely SPEWIN. Was ready to go up to Geelong and see the boys put a dint in Geelongs pride.

Can i possibly get in with my membership card?? I purchased an 18 game membership and i know i haven't used up all my away games.

No Victorian team should have to play at Geelong with a tiny capacity of 28,000(if that). All those games should be at Telstra and their other home games against interstate teams to be at skilled stadium. It's only 80% of the capacity of Optus oval lol.

just buy a gen admin and get there when the gates open and get ya free seats. Will be great to have as many tiger fans as we can get into the last true suburban ground in the AFL. there is a special feel about kardinia park. i hope you enjoy it and a good game of footy.

Matt.

Cheers Matt. I just don't want to get down to KP and then get rejected. Its not like its a 30 minute drive home. I'll try and score some tickets tomorrow.

Another question guys, is it live to Melbourne??

Yeah I think so considering it's a 1:10 p.m game, so 9 will be covering it.

In response to madtiger, Geelong have got an agreement with the AFL to play 8 games a year down at Skilled, so your proposal wouldn't work under those guidelines.

The part I just don't understand is how Geelong can have 35,000 members (or sometyhing like that I'm sure it's over 30K) and their home ground holds only 28,000 people.

Forget about tiger or any visting teams fans getting in they can't even accomodate their own members. :( and that just doesn't seem right

The good news is I have a reserved seat ticket so I'm going to get to see Cambo's final game

WHY THE HELL cant Geelong do the right thing and play the game at the MCG which i believe is vacant.

No luck guys. Couldn't get tickets today. Might just have to sit at home with my Tigers stuff on and watch it on 9.

Hopefully Cambo will be at the end of year family day, so whoever can't see his final game can at least have a 'last' word with the champ.

I hope we can bring home the bacon for him.

We are doing the right thing. Giving Brenton Sanderson, a loyal servant of our club a farewell to Kardinia Park, and maximising our own chances of victory.

Campbell? Not our problem.

Loyal servant? Forgotten he played for Adelaide and Collingwood as well. Geelong would have made a lot more money out of the game if it was at the MCG or Telstra Dome.

1) The fact that Sando played for Adelaide and Collingwood (I think he played a total of about 15 games in three seasons at those clubs) doesn't change the fact that he has played almost 200 games for us and been a constant presence in our team for a decade. He has been a great servant of the club, and deserves a send off from the home ground where he has trained and played for over ten years. He has been loyal to us, and was not disloyal to Adelaide or Collingwood, both of whom got rid of him. If you want an example of loyalty, look at the limping bloke for your mob in the number 7. Loyal = what he ain't.

2) We make more money out of 22,000 at Kardinia Park than 40,000 at the Dome. I don't know what the margins are like at the MCG, but we haven't had a home game there for ages, which indicates to me that they are not as good as at the Dome. Against Richmond and the MCG I would be amazed to see 50,000, Campbell or not, so I doubt we would make any more money by playing at the G.

You can add to that the rights of our sponsors and members. The companies that have signage at Kardinia Park pay for it on the basis that they wil get exposure for eight games each year. Likewise our members and corporate box holders pay for eight games a year at KP. If we suddenly decided that we were going to change on the spur of the moment, we would struggle to sell sponsorships and memberships etc. next year for the same price. I suspect that by shifting the game we would be liable to those groups for a partial refund of their sponsorship/membership/corporate package fees (i.e.at least 12.5% of what they paid).

To summarise, we would not make more money by playing at the MCG or Dome. In addition...

3) It's not all about money. We are the GEELONG Football Club. We come from GEELONG, and we play in GEELONG. We have an identity, and we will maintain it.

See you tomorrow, I hope you enjoy the game at a good old fashioned footy ground, and I hope that Campbell gets the send off that a three hundred game former club captain and one-club player (unlike the turncoat Sanderson) deserves.
