Our kicking is ******* woeful. We can't kick the ball. The amount of missed kicks which are just dribbles is shocking.

ye we have 2 possibly 3 extra wins this year if we just could kick 20m kicks to our teammate on the full and also not 4m to the side

I find it fascinating that when we have a bad patch we suddenly have posters bobbing up that haven’t posted before or we haven’t heard from for ages. Makes you wonder if they’re trolls or alternate accounts???

And RJK Tiger or whatever your name is, lay off the crap about Dimma and his marriage breakdown. It’s none of our business and I don’t believe it has any bearing on his coaching. Keep your moral judgements to yourself.

Broad is an idiot for getting suspended, definitely has hurt us.
Not really !

Broad is just a defender that does what he has to do and is nowhere near an integral party of the team
Our leaders in Martin , Bolton , Prestia , Grimes , Vlastuin , Pickett and a couple more have been putrid and allowing pressure to go onto Broads replacement meaning we struggle.

Take out who ever you want lets call him HRS and play broad we still dont win

Wouldn’t say that, we play a very different style it’s just we aren’t constantly executing but considering the key outs we have it’s not really that surprising

We’re clearly transitioning to a new style. It’s going to take time. Injuries haven’t helped but one quarter of a season doesn’t mean you abandon the plan. I’d be surprised if we made the eight this year but if the second half of the season I’m seeing the plan working, great. If it’s more of the same I’ll melt then.

mistakes are made but slinging someone into the ground was stupid. 100% i'll say any other of our players did it.

Na disagree. Broad is important to our structure and what he does allows others to be at the strengths. Take that Papley Grimes 1 on 1. More than likely Broad would have been on Papley and may have halved that contest. Broad does the basics really really well. The goal before half time when Balta went open hand slap instead of punching it 10 rows back. Fair chance broad jumps 3rd man up and kills the contest. Broad would have made a massive difference last 2 weeks. I’m filthy about that

Agree mate
Almost has a little 2016 vibes to it
Can see what we are trying to do and the puzzle is coming together but not quite if that makes sense

Has happened for years , I can’t fathom it personally that some posters only crawl our from under a rock after losing a few

REally ?

Duhh If you find a formula that nobody can beat and gets you 3 flags then you have the current top clubs emulating that same game plan

You think maybe just maybe thats the best game plan ?
or maybe you have a better plan that you should go to punt rd and give the coaches the plan

I'm sorry but I'm struggling to see that many similarities between our 2017 game style and Geelong's 2022 game style. Geelong's seems to be based on largish, tall types (most obviously, Jeremy Cameron) who are skilful and precision passing. And, as is mentioned on a daily basis on this site, Geelong is the chief beneficiary of the recent rule changes. Our list looks clogged with relative short people who try hard at times but I'm not sure that anyone sees them as overendowed with skill.

Hmm, not sure I agree. Highly doubt Papley kicks 6 if broad is around. Helps Grimes and Vlastuin too

The "bad patch" is two wasted seasons and being perilously close to a third. Moreover, is it really a moral judgement if someone observes that since the coach's marriage has broken down, the side hasn't been the same? Football isn't like other occupations. Football is someone's life and you see it all the time that when there's off-field issues, the on-field suffers, too.

More pressure and faster movement of the football with tap ons and 'dirty ball' as they call it.
Maybe go back to prior 2022 to compare the change in the cats game style and see the foward half pressure that was introduced prior to the 2022 season

Deamons and today's maggies are also doing the exact same thing just about every commentator has mentioned it specially David King , Buckley & Montagna

So should he have stayed in what may have been an unhappy marriage just so the Tigers didn’t slip down the ladder?

It happened during 2020 but they still won the flag. Goodwins marriage broke down also, didn’t stop Melbourne winning a premiership.

Can't blame the coach for an inability to kick and do basics. Fix that up and losing to pies by 14, dogs by 5 may be different. Still in the game last night until 15 min to go.

Get Short, Broad, Lynch, Nank back at some point in the season ... show some fight and win against Melbourne.... few easier games over the month after that and see what happens. Still should aim for finals.

We aren't in a position to go full rebuild anyway. No round 1 draft pick. Also we have to maintain a winning culture and give everyone on our list a reason to train hard and bring it every week.

Put Balta forward. His ability to do superb things but also create nervous situations and concede goals means to me he is suited forward. A Charlie Curnow style second forward is his natural position.

Martin needs to go midfield and not spend so much time up forward. Need more class entering forward 50. Bolton should stay predominantly forward.

Long story short. Get the players to train kicking, converting goals, hitting hand passes, laying tackles and not giving away so many frees and 50 m penalties and we beat Melbourne.

We tried Balta forward it doesn't work, also it hurt his development & I also am not sold on him in defense...
At times he looks like he could be one of the better key defenders in the game but he makes big crucial errors at important times.
He has a big kick on him & barely uses it at times.

I get that we're not full strength but we're still fielding a dozen or more premiership players and all but one was woeful last night
My point was that we have no choice to play out of form plyers as we have no one to swap them with
I agree they were woeful at stages last night,my biggest disappointment is the lack of fight in the last 10 minutes, we threw in the towel.

195 cm running wingman with a big 60 m kick on him ? Could work.

Same with some of the lobbed handballs that get intercepted, it's like they're scared to put some power behind their kicks and handbalsl, we had players open time and time again and just turned over the ball with no pressure on us.
