Create a two tier league. Hell add two more teams so each tier has 10 teams. Play each team in your league at home and away. Top 3 teams in the lower tier get promoted and bottom 3 in the top drop down. At least there'd be no teams with softer draws.

Of course the AFL isn't legitimate, in the sense of a level playing field. Never will be either.

The AFL administrators have done everything bar pull on a jumper and play for the non Vic teams to ensure success.

Only Freo and Scott Clayton have managed to screw this up. GWS will get a flag in five yrs, so to will Sydney. It's where the money is. Just like in the good old days the monied powerhouses like Ess, Carl, Rich used to get regular flags. So to will the Sydney franchises get more than their fair share because like FIFA and AOC, sporting administrators are essentially corrupt pricks who follow the money.

Only Geelong via extreme luck with father sons (after which the AFL changed the rules to prevent a recurrence) and Hawthorn (who the AFL nearly merged out of existence) have bucked the system.

I don't think the AFL ever set out to ensure success for Freo but being a Dogs supporter I understand your confusion.

Given your umpire handouts and handouts because you couldn't draw a crowd, frankly I'd suggest you pipe down and go pray to the umpires
