Is the age of the ‘big bodied mid’ over?

It really depends as much on their power and athleticism as much as pure height.

Cripps and Green are both powerful movers, so their height contributes to their body size.

Someone like Nick Cox, not so much.

Rowell is 179cm but one of the biggest powerhouses in the league.

Wardlaw had the same vertical as Nic Nat at the draft camp and the same 20m as Dangerfield. Broke most of Majak Daws power testing records on day 1 at the club also. He’s 182cm.

Height means nothing, in fact it may impact on agility.

I thought shortening the amount of time the ball carrier has in a tackle would have a bigger impact on the larger kids.
Doesn’t seem to have made alotve difference.
Besides that first week when they were on it, the last few games I have watched the umpires have been back to letting players hold it for a while. Its already happened a couple of times in this Port/Bris match already.

Typical of the AFL, push a "new rule/interpretation" hard for a week or two, then sweep it under the carpet.
