Is the top 7 on the ladder set now?

Top 5 is set.

Top 5 then the rest with the Blues, Cats and Dogs as the wild cards filling the 8.
Looking that way isn't it. Dogs will make a push. Their next few games are easy kills. I think they come in for Collingwood then we are set for the 8, just a matter of positioning. I still think Carlton are a good chance for the top 4. Easiest draw in the comp. Cats look shaky but have enough home games where they will get enough wins. No locks yet, but Dees and Lions look most assured for Top 4. It's a little odd this season tbh, I don't think many of the Top 8 sides have played unbelievable football but there is already a fair gap..

Sydney are the clear second best IMO
Are they? Got completely outplayed for 3 quarters against the Dogs and just scraped over the line against North. They have beaten Geelong, GWS, North and West Coast. It is a nice run to start the season

Conversely their football against GWS and Geelong proved they are well out of both those sides classes.

From what I’ve seen from them they’ve had one poor game against the Dogs and they found a way to win against a side well beneath them that were playing out of the skins to even be in the contest. It’s not unprecedented - Melbourne went down to both Collingwood and Adelaide last season in similar fashions, it happens. I’m not giving them a black mark because they actually found a way to win when they probably shouldn’t have.

They’re well balanced across all lines, not really a glaring weakness albeit a lot of their mids don’t get the credit they deserve and are probably perceived more as toilers rather than A graders, which is probably where they fall down against Melbourne. Definitely the second best in it though for mine

Richmond vs Collingwood shapes as a big game for finals even though it's early.

If you look at the fixture and ladder positions, if Richmond go 4-4 with some returning players and a fit list, back in the hunt for finals. If we lose and go 3-5, behind the ledger and pushing shit uphill with games against a rejuvenated Hawthorn and Swans before the bye, we could fall further behind.

Collingwood should go 4-3 today, they beat us and it'd be 5-3 to 3-5. Not a good sign for us battling for that 7th/8th position.

Dees
Cats
Lions
Swans
Saints
Dockers
Tigers
Blues

Other teams fighting for 7-8 ladder position are the Dogs & Pies but looking ahead their fixture is more difficult than Tigers & Blues.

Cats have a piss easy fixture & gifted top 2 again.

Port too far behind to catch-up. Will get smashed tonight.

I reckon I could have had 30 disposals and a goal or two playing for the Tigers last night, I coulda even stopped to eat Doritos and drink coke-a-cola during the game and still racked up the possies, I'm 40+ and look like I ate a horse for breakfast.

Weagles right up there with Neeld and Bailey Dees, Poor Port Adelaide teams, and some Gold Coast Suns with lack of effort.

I'd say the top 6 is locked. Need to see Carlton without Pittonet first since the 2 times they've been without him this season they lost.

Will make it we have a favorable draw only play Carlton out of current top 8 twice.

Got our running game up and going last night with some positional changes with Dusty to come back. Would have to be a disaster for us not to finish 5-8 at least.

Just so everybody knows we play WC again, North x 2, Port x 2, bombers x 2.

Our next 3 games is pies, hawks and bombers.

I can legit see us winning all these games with Dusty & Co coming back. Finals looks pretty likely from here you’d think unless we absolutely shit the bed.

There's 6 games you should win there (I'm tipping Port at home), so 9 wins. You probably need 12 wins for finals, looking at the other games I could see you getting to 12 wins, but also wouldn't be surprised if you didn.t. Too much uncertainty to say whether finals are likely or not for Richmond

I think we're a chance to sneak the 8.

7 rounds in and we've already played 5 of the 8.
We have had more trouble with the bottom teams than the top teams for years. Hopefully under Mitchell and a new style fixes that issue

Freo, Pies, Adelaide, GWS, Richmond twice

We only play North, WCE and Essendon once

Stop talking nonsense

So, if you do the ladder predictor where the team higher on the ladder wins the match you get the ladder below:

1 MELB 22 88 130.5 22 0 0
2 BL 22 76 124.5 19 3 0
3 FRE 22 72 120.4 18 4 0
4 STK 22 64 115.8 16 6 0
5 GEEL 22 64 115.6 16 6 0
6 SYD 22 56 113.7 16 6 0
7 CARL 21 56 105.9 14 7 0
8 RICH 21 52 111.4 13 8 0
9 HAW 22 48 101.8 12 10 0
10 WB 22 40 100.7 10 12 0
11 COLL 22 40 100.1 10 12 0
12 ADEL 22 36 93.0 9 13 0

I would say that is a good representation of how it will look at the end of the year, you could move both Swans and Geelong above the Saints. and any side from 7th to 12 could fit in the 7 and 8 spot if they get on a run and play some good footy during the year.

Would love to play Geelong again in another big final!

Carlton with the easiest draw in the comp. Cmon. Pies, Crows, Giants and Tigers aren't putting the fear of god into anyone. If Carlton don't make Top 4 with that draw, they never will..
