definitely losing it's appeal, I really only look forward to Bathurst now.
Ridiculous safety cars is a big killer for me, had to laugh when they immediately sent it out for mconville who then fired it up and drove it back to the pits. The stewards for the V8's have NFI.

I thought Cam actually got moving before the SC got scrambled.Of course we don't know if the bit where you hear Tim Schenken scramble the SC is live on ch7 or it might be on a bit of delay so he did call it out before Cam got going.

Didn't see any of the race at all yesterday: but i see you guys talking about the rubbish of the Safety Car period. They only do it to close the field up. As soon as someone spins it's an excuse to throw it.

When are we going to have double file restarts (and to add to the ESPN excitement: Doube File Restarts Shootout Style! :D)?

Get rid of all the road courses. They're boring! Give me an oval anyday.

I use to drive past the Thunderdome wondering how anyone could go in and watch cars racing in circles. How wrong could I have been.

There's nothing more exciting then this. The whole event at Calder Park was sensational. The HQ's. Sportsman, Legend cars, AUSCARS and then the NASCARS. Nothing better. No good for the ears though!

lalalalala...

I'll prentend I didn't just hear that... bugger.. I READ IT.

each to their own, but I would rather sit through 6 hrs of Bathurst than 6 hrs of Daytona/Indy

Don't forget the Formula Vee's!

They tried to revive the AUSCARS, yet sadly only a select few turned up out of the woodwork at those AMRS events that Rod Dale was madly trying to promote. Pity it went belly up, well basically it did.

I haven't been to Calder since they have done the work to the track. The VHT really did cause a problem for circuit racing when it rained. Hence why they needed to do something, rather than run events with witches hats.....

Have you been on the Thunderdome lately? There's quite a few nasty parts to the circuit, even those on defensive driving courses find themselves in the wall...... poor skyline.

But, motorsport attendaces as a whole are dying. Would be hard to inject passion into all if the Thunderdome had a full years' calendar worth of racing.

Calder park use to be a buzzing little place....especially when it also had the fully sanctioned drag racing. Drag Racing is getting bigger and better up north....just waiting and hoping for the ANDRA top brackets to return calder park.

V8 has been slowly in decline since channel 7 took hold. Channell 10 were great in promoting and covering the sport.

look.. the real reason is...
When Holdens were winning every round... the popularity the V8's was at its greatest!!

Unfortunately the Ford brigade have been doing the business recently and the popularity has dropped right off. :)

jokes aside...

when either Ford or Holdens are dominating the interest fades... if there was a different winner every round and the championship was a race of 5 or more drivers there would be more interest... simple

Never happen
Calder does not meet basic safety standards for Group 1 Drag Racing. Also after what Bob Jane tried to do to ANDRA at the Nationals a few years ago. They will not sanction it anyway.

Bob is not above dirty tricks to stuff up any plans for a proper stand alone Drag Strip in Victoria

What does scaring top level motorsport away from Calder and AIR achieve for Bob anyway??
Bob tried to break ANDRA and take over Drag Racing several years ago.He failed and has tried to stitch up ANDRA ever since.

With AIR and Drag racing one of the lanes has a large bump in it,making it unsafe for cars quicker than 10 seconds.Yet after ANDRA lobbying the SA govt a mention of state gov cash has AIR suddenly promoting Drag events.
With Calder,Bob seams to suddenly get interested in Drag Racing every time a stand alone track is mooted.Others know a lot more than me but I do know that ANDRA has got the same group that got Kwinana up and running to lobby the Victorian gov for land to set up a facility similar to WSID or Kwinana

Where are we talking, eastern suburbs?

Who knows what the Holden-Ford split is going to be next year.

This year
18-11

Next Year
888: Ford to Holden (20-9)
RNR: Holden to Ford (19-10) Rod Nash is taking his licence and Bottle-O sponsorship to FPR for a 3rd car for 2009. James Moffat and Andrew Thompson a chance for the seat. Tony D'Alberto in the market for a licence.

Then you have Auto Fiction suggesting that Tasman Motorsport may close for next year with Greg Murphy jumping ship to Ford to provide Paul Cruickshank with a 2nd licence (replacing the leased Britek licence). Also puts the 2nd Tasman licence on the market which Tony D'Alberto could acquire.

There is the 30th licence which could end up back on the market if the right deal came along for V8SA.

As well as the unknown in Jason Bright. Other forums have him as a 3rd car with PCR (carried Wilson Security sponsorship at Bathurst, and drove Coulthard's car at a recent test), to driving at PMM.

So it all shapes for an interesting off-season, which at least provides some interest, and hopefully by the time it all settles, the split will at least hold at worst with 11 Fords for 2010.

Also will be interesting to see the match ups of teams
As it stands
Holden
Walkinshaw: 2 HRT, 2 Walkinshaw, 2 Brad Jones
Triple 8: 2 888, 2 Paul Morris (maybe 1 Triple F)
Kelly: 2 Kelly, 2 Perkins
Garry Rogers: 2 licences (Walkinshaw engines)
Tasman: 2 licences

Ford
FPR/SBR: 2 FPR, 1 Rod Nash, 2 SBR
DJR/PCR: 2 DJR, 1 PCR, 1 BRI (You'd think the cars currently running 888 gear would pair up)
BRI: Bright could pair up with anyone. PCR best guess given Wilson Security sponsorship at Bathurst.

I think the V8 Supercars have lost its appeal even thought im only 18 and a girl I still think it's good but the telecast is crap too many adds.
