And a lightbulb works when you flick the switch, even if you vehemently disbelieve in the existence of electricity.

There is a problem of relativism in beliefs in the social sciences. I certainly accept different cultural approaches to the world, even to reject the tenets and accouterments of a (western) scientific world and to keep intact another world. After all science has given us neutron bombs & Donald Trumps hair, but there just cannot be any denying that science in the western tradition is potent and 95% of the globe's surface is a daily testament to that fact.

Just to prove I'm not a replicant I believe in psychology as well, rather than spiritualism. But if someone likes that and it works for them that's fine by me.

I've personally never understood why god needs humans to worship him/her.

Seems like an arrogant bastard to me, why does god have such a huge ego? Is that a sin?

You are wrong champ, stop talking from your behind. There is a big difference in scientific law and scientific theory and I can't be arsed explaining it to you.

Look, there is a difference between law and theory, but what I was referring to is that there is no difference in the strength of evidence, or proof between the two. A law describes what is observed and a theory describes why that law is true. It isn't the case that a theory "becomes" law once it's proven.

This link explains it:

I always assumed low self-esteem. Or bored. 'Oh this is bloody boring. I'm going to make people and have them fawn over me. Who's mad now Zeus?'

SimCity always made me wonder whether our whole world is just a simulation running on some teenagers computer. Hope he remembers to save before summoning Godzilla.

I really do wonder what he's up to these days since he's not creating & leaving us up to our own desires.

My philosophy is he's still trying to come up with purely random number generator.

I wonder if he's got a shitload of life admin to deal with up there. Pointless newsletters from primary schools, unpaid parking fines, AGL salespeople. Welcome to my world.

I wonder if he got bored waiting 12 billion years for me to born so he could plan out my life for me.

I am the centre of his universe after all, he cares about me. (unless I get sick or have an accident, then I'm on my own)

Is God a material being?

Interesting question.

The pre-condition for God status is the troika omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence.

IF God is omnipresent, everywhere, it suggests God is embedded in matter.

But let's say that God's presence is merely an energy enveloping the matter.

But then the rejoinder from quantum physics is that the distinction between matter and energy ultimately collapses - they are the same thing.

On this basis, God is material.

Good night all! sirlothie, you fought a single-handed battle to save us heretics from the caressing flames of hell.

That's nothing, imagine the original paperwork he would've had to deal with, zoning permits, building cave specs, soil testing (would've been a bitch with no control parameters to compare to), height restrictions, the inevitable greasing of the devils palms to get approvals, shit the list goes on.

If God is material and embedded then he's also toilet paper and rice crispies. Oh and me. And the devil. And sandpaper and BMX tuffs. What do you know, he does work in mysterious ways.

The alimentary canal. That's unbelievable engineering, really.

'Okay were going to need a mouth, some sausage skin, a poo-hole...'

Also known as the Sewers Canal. If it's bunged up it's known as the Far Canal.

Night all, I'm off to dream of electric sheep.
I don't need to my boy (sheep) is asleep at my feet once again.

My GOD I've taken it too far he's almost a year old.:)

Is it really god needing the worship? Or the organized religions that feed of the ideal of a all knowing and powerful being they call god, in order to control the masses and take their money?

Oh it's definitely that. That's the human aspect. The god aspect, if true would be a bit disturbing & why would you pray/respect/believe. Two diff things.

Also who is the correct god. Is it Islams interpretation or the Jews or Christians? What if Paganism with all their human sacrifice to appease a pissed of God/s was on the right track. Then around 380AD we took a wrong turn and started worshiping the Christian version and stopped feeding them to the lions.

All the hundreds of thousands of religions since the human species started were ALL 100% sure their religion was right and their "god/s" were real...

But Sirlothie is the only one who is actually correct, all the others were just pretenders.
