Is there any future for the MFC?

All BF pisstaking aside, before Rd1 1993 North had no major sponsor and had just just sacked our coach after copping a fearful 140 odd point hiding off Adelaide. I genuinely thought the club was in existential danger and I reckon we were, worse than what you're in now.

Three years later we won a flag. It is always darkest before the dawn.

With absolutely all due respect, maybe you should listen to outsiders perspective. Just because they are not a club supporter doesn't mean they don't have a valid point on football matters. Sometimes you can be too close to a project.

You know what? Get stuffed. Seriously. Get stuffed. I don't need to listen to outside supporters after today. Why don't you take a second and get some perspective that maybe we're hurting quite a bit right now and the last thing we want are people like you coming in here and telling us that maybe we should listen to outside supporters. Maybe at another time, but not 5 hours after one of the worst losses in our history. Think before you type.

I am not a Melbourne fan at all - in fact I have had a deep dislike for the club ever since 3 of its players gang tackled dangerfield and drove him head first into the MCG turf.....

Anywho - the way Melbourne have played since Neil Craig has been at the club is exactly the same way Craig had Adelaide play at their worst. Get the ball at half back and chip chip chip it backwards, sideways, sideways, backwards anywhere but to a contest. It must drive the forwards spare. You see a melbourne player get the ball on the wing and look to kick it backwards instead of long to a one on one. crazy stuff. you always want to give the hands and run the ball through half back often over-possessing the ball and turning it over.

also the way they tag the opposition players screams negativity. Neeld seems to be obsessed with shutting down the oppositions best players rather than let his players try and run a muck. the boys he uses as taggers should be the ones finding the pill. Eg - today michael evans has a boom first quarter of the wing then told to play a negating role on bennell at Full Back??? Why take a prime mover who was doing well in the middle and let him drown in the defensive 50? same with terlich manning yarren and betts last weekend. terlich is a ball magnet and racked up 30+ posessions for norwood here in the SANFL regularly. he should be a running half back/wingman - not a deep full back. and as for james magner....well 'nuff said there. the kid is a jet and must be shattered all these old has beens are clogging up the list ahead of him.

as for the draft picks debacle.... its funny going through all the dees top picks over the years and you would have thought putting up faces of the u18 all australian team on a dart board and picking the player you hit would have a better success rate than the demons picks recently.

crazy stuff.

need to be positive, take the game on, kick long, play contested footy, not overpossess the ball and not be so keen on tagging and try and kick a winning score rather than restrict the opposition.

There is a future at the MFC, but Mark Neeld ain't a part of it.

I wish this was the case, most of our players are not near an opponent and are left flat footed when the opposition gets the ball.

I want Magner in the team for his competiveness, but calling him a jet is beyond contemptible.

I'm confident we aren't over possessing the ball, have you seen any of our games this year, or even our possession stats?

Overall I feel you're saying we can fix this by applying no defensive pressure and outscoring our opponents in a shoot out? Is that you Dean Bailey??

Sack Mark.

I know sacking a coach doesn't do much but Neeld is not an inspiring coach, puts players in bizarre positions not suited for them and makes a dumb amount of excuses. The players are a major issue though, tell players to go to the VFL and find form.

Is there a future? Try not to get fined any further, develop the players better and please pick better draft picks.

Do you mean when one player (Trengove) legitimately tackled Dangerfield, but Dangerfields stupid attempt to kick the ball saw him lose all strength when trying to stand up in the tackle and resulted in him being slung to the ground?

I believe he does.

Port is a club that has travelled a long way in 7 months after 8 years of pain.

We still have a long way to go but the recent changes off the field have made a magnificent difference. We are likely to end up with only 8 to 10 wins for the season but the quality of the youth is exciting.

Melbourne should spend the next few months considering what changes need to be made as these problems are generally top-down.

Good luck guys.

Of course there is a future.
Bloody good future too.
Club will rise again.
Those who stick by the club will one day see the reward we all want to see.
I remember how bad the Swans were when Buckenara was coach in early 1990's (20 plus losses in a row)
20 years later Sydney Swans have won 2 flags.
Melbourne will rise again.

Also there are other teams that have been in a Worse position. As I said earlier on here, Go look at Port Adelaide in the last 2 years. They did some major changes in the off season in getting a new coach, fitness coach and President. Again I don't see why Melbourne can do the same thing.

Both Neeld and Craig have to go. I agree Neeld plays blokes in stupid positions, Craig recruited Meeson to Adelaide and Sellar to melbourne by giving him a rating when crows moved him on. Both are absolute duds along with other discards, Peterson, gillies and Rodan. We could've had 3 other kids on list as we have kids on list who need games as opposed to playing vfl every week.

Magner is a shoe in to be promoted, Jonesy and co need help, surely the players have to speak up. Why they haven't announced the magner promotion is bewildering, just another mind boggling thought process. It ain't that hard you nuffies !

No problem losing more games but play the kids on list and keep them and play blokes in the ****in right positions and **** off the bullshit kicking backwards, take the game on, get it to Howe and Max ASAP. Howe doesn't need to play down back, how about playing the kid from the goal square, he is a much better player than jack riewoldt.

Get Max into the ruck more often and get. Garland forward occasionally, plus Davey has to be at feet, stop starving the bloke in a vest and 5 minutes every week. Byrnes is another that has to go, who cares if he kicks 20 goals this year, he battled in a bloody good side, be lucky to kick 15 let alone 20 this year
