It does all seem so hopeless, doesn’t it? Having said that, I don’t know about the rest of you. However, that clip featuring Braydon George, strangely, gave me hope for the future. The guys all look so happy and positive. Now, you could argue it’s absolutely misplaced positivity. It works for me though. I’m seeing resilience. I’m going to Marvel this weekend!

Here’s how it will unfold

We rebuild

Start playing Finals

Make the Grand Final

On Grand Final Day there is a Zombie Apocalypse and the game is abandoned

2031 I am tipping
But not before a zombie gets on the field and scores a solitary point for the opposition, thus we technically lose the game.

Rock bottom would have been where we had no contingency plan in place, fortunately from an administrative perspective we turned the corner recently, there are quality people in key places now to deal with the issues coming our way,

Far from ideal but orders of magnitude better than when Shawy needed time out.
Yep, spot on.

Ok.

I've questioned some of his football output but this might be Luke McDonald's time to shine. It's probably not about Olympic training standards now. We need loud, strong voices to bring the group together.

Guys like Larkey, McDonald, Ziebell, Corr, Logue, Shiels, Simpkin, Goldstein, Hall - the guys who look to be confident in their ability to stand up and communicate a position- are imo who we need to double down and drive morale.

We'll also learn about the character of our list this year. This is playing out as another torrid year.

We'll soon see who's sticking around in a statement of "I'm part of this" and who spins up a(an?) euphemism to get out the door.

Main hope is for us to button down the hatches and compete now. Nothing more.
“Button down the hatches”. Tee hee.

Funny, thinking of curses, but while obviously the 90s was amazing, I’ve had some of my most meaningful footy experiences in the time since then which some people seem to be thinking of as one black hole.

The 2002 win over Port when we came back from the Carey thing. Ending the Saints streak in 2009. Edging Collingwood with Sav on Mothers Day (was that 2002 as well? 2003?) and Thommo in 2005 and the dodgy bounce (2008?). Laidley conjuring up so many unexpected wins. Not even a win, but when the North Melbourne banner went up to start 2008 after we defeated the relocation push. The finals wins in 2014-15 over the Tigers, the Cats, the Swans and - never gets old - the Bombers.

They are the kind of times I am grateful that this ”boutique”, always under fire, wonderful club is the one I chose to spend my life with. And times like now make those even sweeter.

After starting to lose any passion for the club then finding out that Clarko has stepped down, my son calls me and says "Wardlaw is in, we have to go and support him".

So I'm off to the game off the back of my son's passion. Well at least I raised him well
My kids wanted to go to the zoo Saturday but it’s looking like crap weather so I half jokingly suggested the footy. I didnt really want to go but watching wardlaw debut would be sweet. Expecting opposition to my suggestion they surprised me with a cheerful YES!

My kids literally brought me back yesterday after feeling pretty shit.

We take this game/team of ours a little too seriously sometimes, kids are great for restoring positivity.
