Something needs to be done about the U.S Evangelicals and their influence on politics. They are a disease that perpetuates this mindset of 'Israel must be protected at all costs to guarantee the End Times and the fulfillment of Biblical Prophecy'.

As much as I despise the right wing evangelical loonies they have very little influence on US policy when it comes to Israel.

They have influence, but to my surprise it IS actually slowly dying out

This is getting uglier by the hour.

The fact that Western countries are openly supporting Israel (whilst the US is vetoing humanitarian aid) makes me question who the good guys are
I don’t think you are alone here.
Israel are doing massive damage to any support they had / have from the global community. Everyone I speak to on this topic agree that Israel are behaving disgracefully. This is across the left / right / vote no / vote yes / Russia bad / Ukraine started it, spectrum of associates I have. I haven’t observed anyone (other than a few on here like Zidane) sticking fat with Israel. The western propaganda machine is failing to convince the community that Israel are not a disgrace.
And good on that US senator for resigning due to the US position on Israel genociding 2M people. We need more like that to stop this (if it can be stopped).

I think the bold is a good point. It feels like this has gone across political divides and is now a Government vs The People situation

This is significant:

Saudi Arabia for the first time speaking out against Hamas.

Did you read what he said? How on earth can anyone read that and see increased support for Israel.
The Saudis are more balanced on this than our leaders.

US warships and bases in Syria and Iraq under drone attack.

Only Pro-Israeli people could view that as an increased support for the Israeli government. They'll take anything because this war is a PR disaster for them.

It’s the opposite of a PR disaster. The US just doubled down on its support of them and sent two carrier strike groups to the region.

You can believe in the right for Israel to exist, disagree with their policies, believe a Palestinian state should exist but disagree with what Hamas is doing.

It is possible to have more than one thought in your head.

Biden also referred to the Palestinians (indirectly, I assume he was only "intending" to mean Hamas) as "the other team" yesterday.

I'd like to say they're just being tone deaf, but I think the majority of people in the west do see it as an "us against them".
What always amazes me about this mentality is, there isn't the same feeling of "us" in the West when it comes to non-white Christians facing persecution. Palestinian Christians have been basically absorbed into the largely Muslim "other team" in Western eyes. Armenian Christians being driven out of Nagorno-Karabakh by Muslims don't even rate a mention. Neither do the African Christians getting murdered by Boko Haram. But if anything happens in Israel, headlines galore.

I think it's very clear ethnicity gets more solidarity than religion does, and Jews have basically earned honorary white status at this point, outside of a small handful of neo-Nazis.

They are losing international support by the minute, which is a PR disaster. I've never seen this much support for Palestine in my life.

They'll never lose the US as an ally and therefore will not lose Western countries either, but most of the general public, even the Israeli population, are rapidly turning on the Israeli government. It's only a matter of time before mass protests and pressure from the general public influences policies at government level across the world.

What can anyone do? Between the gross inequalities in state populations, equal numbers of Senators per state and repeated rigging of electoral district boundaries, it's a certainty that the Republicans will always exert some level of control over US politics, even without a majority of votes. And the Republican establishment has been utterly obliterated by Evangelicals and similar rabid conservatives. This isn't going away anytime soon.

Does it matter when the Trump devotees carry out pretty much whatever Evangelicals want?

Quite the contrary. For the first time ever other Arab league nations have spoken out against Hamas. - including Saudi Arabia. Iran has stated it is pulling support for Hamas (we dont know if they will continue to support Hamas unofficially). This is implicit support in the war between Hamas & Israel for Israel.

Previously the idea of Iran publicly distancing themselves from Hamas was unthinkable.

I'd say Netanyahu will probably go as a result of this war. The general public wants the war to end sooner rather than laterbecause it benefits nobody except for Hamas. Especially if Hamas are still governing Gaza after its conclusion. That's a reality that simply cannot happen - a government who openly states its desire to kill all Jews in the world.

I think this is utter nonsense.

ISIS going on killing rampages in Iraq got huge publicity. As did Assad's chemical horrors in Syria. Terror attacks in Pakistan get huge publicity - the school massacres there attracted as much media attention as any other terrorist attack.

Boko Haram are not the official government of the areas they terrorise. Hamas are in Gaza. The two are not comparable.

I am another that is ashamed of the western world leadership response.
China, Russia are taking a much better position on this.
I really hate the US sometimes. And the fact that Biden and the opposition are all taking the same line, gives no one a choice for any change.
The world is behaving awfully.
The whole world? Have you a preferred country that always behaves to your standards? The west might be bad, sometimes, at some things, but it's still ahead of everyone else. Except the Antarcticans.

Ok so that's a PR disaster for Hamas which I didn't speak about? Are you a bot?

My post had nothing to do with Hamas. Stop bringing them up every single time someone criticises the Israeli government. We're talking about the Israeli government, their actions and how they are losing significant public support, all of which is true. Hamas' "popularity" doesn't change this fact at all.
Your Hamas obsession anytime someone criticises the Israeli government is tiresome.

It's a good statement, but it's important to note Turki has no role with the Saudi Arabian government, and hasn't had one for at least 15 years. Saudi Arabia has been moving towards better relations with Israel for a while though.
