It will turn, stick fat

There is nothing good at all about tonight but there's something in the fact that it's happening against the Dees.

It wasn't that long ago that they were an absolute basket case--one of the worst teams of all time who regularly got belted every week and it didn't look like there was any light at the end of the tunnel. And we all remember the game against Geelong.

It was slow. Players, fans, coaches, and the club had to be patient and go through a lot of pain. But it eventually, slowly, excruciatingly turned for them, and we're seeing the result of that here.

Keep the faith, stick fat, and other cliches. Be patient with the team and with your fellow fans who are hurting just as much as you. We're all on the same journey. Everyone from Sonja, to Clarko, to Jyza, to Blake Drury, to the youngest Shinboner fan out there is in this together.
Thank you. Technically I think I have to.

There are some deep, deep problems. For which we have no solutions.
I don't see the path out

This for me too. We need a few miracle off seasons (next to no chance of happening) to even get competitive again. We’ve got the master coach, but the list he’s got at his disposal is a steaming pile of shite. I can’t see how this turns without us starting the rebuild over again.

We're Melbourne of a decade ago. They got out of their hole, we will too, it's inevitable. Might be quick, might be slow, but sooner or later we'll be having seasons where the vast majority are happy with what they see. Premierships are harder, but again, we'll grab another one eventually. Might not be the emotional booster shot some want right now, but it's the truth.

Emotionally Checking Out for a while might be the way to go, nothing wrong with that.

Agree with the OP's sentiment. We lost by 90 points to the top team who won the flag 2 years ago. It isn't encouraging but it's not exactly a surprise from an objective perspective. I was actually pleasantly surprised we somewhat stemmed the massacre that was the 1st quarter given the injuries on the night.

I checked out earlier than most supporters on here in terms of winning games of football. It's not realistic. Primarily I watch to see how the game plan is being implemented (terribly tonight obvi) and who could play key roles in our next contending team - ticks to LDU, Sheezel, Simpkin, Zurhaar and Larkey as a second KPF.

The list is sparse yes but hopefully the likes of Wardlaw, Bergman, Logue, George, Stephenson, Phillips, Goater, Curtis, Powell, McDonald, Xerri and Comben can stamp their ticket (ordered from most to least likely).

The harsh reality is we don't have the cattle. I'd expect more than half our list to be turned over in the next three years.

Whenever we become a competitive team again it's going to be so so sweet. Go Roos.

I get the sentiment, but this is the rubbish delusional stuff that has lead us here.

We are playing a substandard old team with the very minimum of youth sprinkled.

To make matters worse, our most promising (and only) key forward prospect will be out for eff knows how long.

You could live with the odd result like this if we were playing the kids, but we are not.

When was the last time we were in any way competitive? Probably 2018 (and that is being generous)

We had brad as coach and it was before the full list purge.

Why is it inevitable?

This is what I always thought too but I’m starting to think it might not be.

Amazing we showed signs under Noble allbeit small last year
. Atu brain fart costs us Sydney game
. Up by 5 goals v Pies at the MCG
We know how they went 2022.

Who thought we would be this bad ? Maybe Clarko ?

It hurts to see what our club has become.
So many inferior players that lack the drive to be competitive- not talking about talent here , they have no fight
Feel for the kids that are at school that have to cop this - none of us adults have ever seen us like this.
We’ve got about 4-5 players that we can count on and one is an 18yr old

Only 3 weeks ago we lead Carlton in the third quarter. We aren’t as bad as that. We will win games this season.

There is one positive to this current slump. It will give the coaching staff a clearer picture of who needs to go.

The list management decisions are fairly straightforward from here. The only difficult one IMO is Luke McDonald. He’s a co-captain, he’s on a long term deal. But he is part of the cancer that needs to be surgically removed.

I think so. I remember thinking he was remarkably cautious with praise after the first couple of wins. Every presser he was stressing the long road we had to go.
