It's Geelong's flag to lose now

Haven't they beaten you in 2 of the last 3 finals you have played against them?

What was Geelong's record against Hawthorn in finals before Friday night?

Our win over Geelong and their 2 earlier ones won't count for anything if we run into each other in a few weeks.

No it wont, form will, and Geelong seem to have a bit more of it at the moment. The big test is the prelim final, the team that does it easy should get up in the GF i think. Geelong appear to have the better run, and Collingwood don't appear to be playing anywhere near as well as last year. It's all about form mate!

I was responding to a post from a Collingwood supporter who was saying Collingwood have Geelong's measure when it counts which is just not true.

As for Hawthorn's record against Geelong in finals i never thought it meant we would automatically beat them again.

It seems like a lot of our supporters were thinking that way which really is incredibly stupid.

Collingwood should still be favourites. However, so many supporters on here were raving on about their forward press and how they were going to go into ultra mode once the Finals began and destroy teams. Where is this superior playstyle?

Yeah and that's fine, I wasn't commenting on who was in better shape or who was more likely to win.

Yeah I saw the post you were responding to, but I misread it. I thought he said the game on Friday showed him why Collingwood will have Geelong's measure when it matters, not that we already did. Once I reread it I saw your comment was fair.

Definitely true at this stage. Cat's flag to lose. Geelong is clearly the best team now.

I am very thankful that our prelim will be a practice match. Would have hated to face the Hawks in a prelim rather than a qualifying final. So we are certainties for the GF.

GF will be anything but a walkover. The pies will be very tough to win but I think we are a good chance. I just hope because we win the prelim by 10 goals + we don't go into the GF complacent. The pies are very difficult to beat.

Round 24 says hello.

Do you really think your prelim will be a practice match?

I'm by no means an overly optimistic supporter. I wasn't 100% confident against the Hawks this week. I think a GF against the Pies will be a tough game despite Round 24.

But I think the Eagle swill make the prelim and I'd be more than 100% confident against them at the MCG if it were possible. I'm really hoping they beat Essendon/Carlton because I'd fear playing one of those two more than the Eagles.
It just works out that for the first time in 5 years we look like we will have a very soft prelim.

i think it's pretty clear that round 24 was no abberation, it was a reasonable display of the difference between the two teams right now.

Oh yeah, we're done. If we play you again you'd definitely win by at least 100+

I HATE statements like that about any final against Carlton or WCE being soft. Very provocative and unlikely. Carlton has strengths in the pace area that we struggle with on recent history.

WC have the gameplan to deconstruct Geelong & they own Geelong in September like no other club.

Actually the hawks had that mantle until Friday night but we all know what happened there:rolleyes:

But your right, results back in 1992 and 1994 are very relevant to what may transpire this year.

Moron.

Couldnt have said it better myself.

Collingwobbles are up against it,stalling badly.

The blues will roll the cats if they progress past next week.

Ignorant post.

Blues won't be easy but you have just pwned yourself with that statement.

Blues I fear more than Eagles. Of any side in the finals I'd rather play the Eagles. As I said plenty of good sides but I know we will destroy the Eagles in Melbourne. I'd be surprised if it wasn't 60+. Bookmark it.

Geelong now are on the toughest side of the finals draw.

Disagree, Hawthorn are still dangerous if Buddy's fit, and Bailey comes back.

Still, our side is very tough regardless of who wins the semi, yours is either very tough, or an absolute walk in the park. (Hate to say that, but Sydney can't get near Collingwood.)

Collingwood still deserve favoritism.

They had several key players returning, and WCE played great.

Collingwood will be a different side in the prelim.
And they won.

With Daisy back, Pies are even more dangerous. Pies will be favourites. They are repeaking.

TBH, given the way we went into finals i think to get to where we are with no more injuries and (hopefully) no more suspensions is a big win for us. Geelong are in for a very nasty surprise when we play next time (that is if they make which isnt a certainty.)

What makes your mob a certainty to make it? They didn't look fantastic yesterday...
