As above post reads, big soldo is never going to be the complete ruckman as he took up the game late and is not a natural footballer. He does use his size and strength well however, and his taps to advantage are very good. He doesn’t work that well as a 2nd ruck as you can’t really plonk him forward for more than a brief period, will often get his shots on goal by drifting forward rather than being stationed there. Thanks for the insights.
Two questions from me:
1. Is the fact that he hasn’t played full seasons of AFL matches over his career due to injury, form or being behind Nankervis in the pecking order and the coach going into games with one ruckman?
2. Has he played many of his AFL games as the lead ruckman and when he does so, is he more prolific around the ground? I.e., can he mark on the wing or dropping back behind the play? We haven’t had a ruckman do that in almost 15 years.
A mix of injuries and always being behind nank has meant he hasn’t been able to get a continuous run at it.
As the other poster said, he was looking really good in 2020 until he did his acl which cost him his 2nd flag.
This year he’s struggled with a foot injury, however looks to be over that now.
I think as first ruck if he gets a good run at it he can be a very valuable member of your team.
