Do you think I wouldn't be able to find the story on the Sky News website if it was an Islamic story?

Do you think the ABC might have mentioned it in their headline if it were Islamic fundamentalism?

I was only mentioning it as a possible contributing factor. Domestic violence is also woefully underreported and this seems like another case.

I'm not really arguing with you posters, I'm just a bit frustrated that the blatant double-standard is clear for everyone to see, but you can't see what you can't see.

I agree that Domestic Violence is also woefully under-reported, along with self-harm and suicide. They're very difficult stories to report on for the reporter and the audience so reporters find it easier to look away.

So we get 1,000 stories about a fake bomb caravan and a handful of stories only during certain weeks of the year on the number of women killed by men in DV, or the 2,500 men and 795 women who take their own lives every year in Australia. And then Government priorities reflect this lack of coverage.

Think that one is more they don't want to highlight how actually common it is to those who may be vulnerable

Double edged sword, that they think they're alone in feeling that way and it's unusual? But I've never got so bad in such a position so how am I to know if it would be better or worse to know more people had taken that last step.

This is the correct sentiment, unfortunately it is not the kind of sentiment given in any religiously-motivated crimes except for when it's Christians. And then we have to pretend like religion was incidental and we don't have to go looking for who radicalised them (ahem "sky news', ahem, 'Alex Antic' ahem).
And asking the Christian community to apologise for and condemn their actions at every turn

The Victorian government has lost its bid to keep secret the coronavirus briefings used to justify sending Victorians into the world’s longest lockdown.
The Court of Appeal on Thursday refused the Department of Health’s application for leave to appeal a landmark Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal ruling in June last year to hand over the documents to Liberal MP David Davis.

Mr Davis had been fighting for the release of the documents, including emails behind lockdown decisions between then-Public Health Commander Finn Romanes, and the chief health officer Brett Sutton, since first lodging a Freedom of Information request in September 2020.

If we ever get to see them will they redacted like the epstein files?

It’s unfortunate and often obvious in articles when they use quotes like ‘police not looking for anyone else’ and usually include Lifeline and Beyond Blue details at bottom of the article.

Yes and I think it makes it worse as it is treating it as though it is a shameful stigma to be swept under the carpet so would make those who may susceptible to it feel as though they shouldn't/can't talk about it (unless they call somewhere like Lifeline anonymously).

Every time a Christian shoots something up we have to bring a priest on to a news show and ask them if they condemn the Christchurch terrorist attack, and if so, how come they're still preaching the bible with all its genocide and murder and if they want to impose Christian laws upon everyone.

Infrastructure Australia are raising a lot of risks about SRL.

And I still don't know how on Gawd's Green Earth the Govt expects to collect $10bn+ in value capture from these Activity Centres.

$2bn per station?? tens (maybe hundreds) of millions per landowner? It seems like complete and utter nonsense/wishful thinking.

Vicinity aren't paying $2+billion for the value increase in the properties they were already developing with high-rises in Glen Waverley and Box Hill.

It really is the most flimsy business case I've read and it's the largest investment!

Parents of sick newborns and women needing cancer treatment or abortion care have been moved out of the Royal Women’s Hospital’s free family accommodation, with the Victorian government selling the site to build new apartments.

Hospital staff were angered by an internal memo, seen by The Age, that announced in October that the 27-year-old accommodation service on Grattan Street, Carlton, was being closed with just six days’ notice, without an alternative in place.

The accommodation had 14 flats that were available for patients from regional Victoria who had to travel long distances to Melbourne for specialised care, with most able to stay for free.

Now, many such patients and parents are instead expected to book hotels with a $45 per night accommodation allowance from the Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme. The amount has not increased since 2017, while the average price of a hotel in Melbourne rose to $234 last year.

Heartless
Bloody LNP. How could they! People will find a way to blame them when Victoria is a ALP state

Too little, too late.

Hopefully unredacted.

Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop, Harriet Shing, claimed today in a press conference when questioned about Infrastructure Australia’s damning report on SRL that the concept of a suburban rail link was not even Labor’s idea but Matthew Guy’s !

Shortly afterwards she had to admit she got that wrong!

That may be the dumbest statement you can make. You are either giving Guy credit for your pet project or you are attacking the project by trying to use Guy as a scapegoat for it. And then it proves to be false

Is there any minister in this government who isn’t completely incompetent?

I mean it is par for the course with this inept Govt.

you’re a funny man. it’s not hard to ascertain details of developers’ bastardry if you have a genuine interest in ascertaining the details. there are numerous stories.

i know your interest is being part of the cmfeu pile-on. and they warrant a lot of it. they have also been extremely good at protecting workers’ conditions and, very importantly, workers’ safety.

i get you are only interested in one side of the equation. there’s a reason why the building union - by whatever name - has been successful in protecting workers’ rights and conditions. had they not been tough those who protect the developers would have walked all over workers.

back to your comfort zone of just seeing one side of the story.
Heaven bid that anyone should work in the rain, no wonder all those houses Albanese and Chalmers said would be built, aren’t being built.
