Matthew Richardson is an extremely important figure in our history, essentially keeping us afloat during the darkest days. Id love to see Richo recognised too.

Dyer - Bartlett - Hart - Richo - Dusty

They are the five in my mind that personify Richmond

Be good if someone could do a poll. The results would be interesting. Fwiw my vote would be Gale.

It’s convenient to say something is “politics” when you have no cultural or social connection to it.

Is KGI a political organisation? Is the Bacher Houli Foundation a political organisation? Why haven’t I ever seen these parties on the candidates list on the ballot paper?

I bet the young men and women who go through these programs and receive opportunities and support as part of it don’t think it’s political.

To call these programs and the support they receive “political” is dismissive, rude and downright insensitive.

This is people, community and culture.

If you’re using sport as a place to “hide from” supporting community and creating culture than I suggest you find somewhere else to bury your head in the sand.

I would gladly donate some coin for a Richo statue - he was my absolute idol growing up

cant wait to get those 2 extra kgi classrooms in the existing facility to benefit our afl team
Tax deductions too.
Of course, more subsidies courtesy of Joe the Taxpayer.
Let's all move to the Cayman Islands!
Meet up with Chris Blackwell of Island Records, he owned the Ian Fleming Goldeneye compound.

Put it this way, we either:

A) demolish the stand and re build it with Gov help (the same conditions every other club has had) and stay at PRO, or

B) Relocate completely like the Pies, Hawks, Dee's and many others

I wonder if those who are against the redevelopment of the Jack Dyer stand were also against the redevelopment of the old social club and administration areas before the new building with upgraded facilities was built.

Imagine where we'd be if they were upgraded to the current facilities. Instead of being the club we have become we'd probably have been shipped off to Tassie and become the Tasmanian Tigers.

And I am sure that we wouldn't be sitting here today talking about a side that has just won 3 of 4 flags and in the midst of a new Richmond dynasty

I just wish they didn't choose such a ugly design for the current building

Crouching tiger my arse

Big club like the Pies moved from Vic Park.
Who would've thought 30yrs ago.

The fockers want to name the oval after a person who has no playing link to RFC.
A political activist FFS.
The oval isn't being renamed. A section of the new development is being named the William Cooper centre.

And their old, actual home ground is there for all to see.... and how many people actually look at it bar the 5k who watch the VFL and those who livr around it

I would rather the JDS is knocked down and we stay at PRO than to drive down PR everyday and see an empty ground and know we now train out of some shit eastern suburbs facility

Don't be a dimwit.
The state government is only providing the funds on the proviso the oval is named after a political activist.
It is conditional.
Otherwise why name it already?
I think the political agenda is a little broader than who the function room is named after , but you hang onto that. That’s fine

Our location is prime real estate and underpins how we have managed to remain relevant through a few Barron decades. Coll couldnt wait to vacate that rat hole and share our post code

Some people have a very short memory.
Imagine going out too Craigieburn for the last training session before the GF and you live in the east subs where a good proportion of our support comes from.
Give me a central venue like PRO any day of the week.

Even now goshes paddock isn't even close too PRO.

Spare me the hysteria pal , it ain’t the 70s anymore , since how long has afl resembled local footy , good luck to u if that’s your thing it’s a lame whinge
A whinge and hysteria for suggesting supporters are considered. The new development at the Swinburne centre killed access for basic members, post game.

The fear is the new JDS development will kill them completely.

Can confirm I saw secret planning docs and the new stand has a 75 year consecutive membership entry requirement. Also all non members will be blindfolded from the moment they get out of Richmond station

It’s not a demountable classroom. The thing is barely standing where it is on its huge footings. How do you think it’s going to be picked up and plonked somewhere else? Or do you want the club to spend every dollar it has and then some, removing it brick by brick, cleaning each brick, then reassembling it elsewhere so 18 people can sit in it watching an ammos game in Burnley?

The old SCG hill stand was moved in the mid 80s to nth Sydney to make way for the Bill O'Reilly stand

Do you think anyone has regrets?

Trouble is we live in a throw away disposable world now and history and tradition are afterthoughts.

All this crap about the club moving forward is the most important issue is BS.

The club will move forward regardless, but I'd rather it be with a very important part of our history kept intact, and shame on those happy to see it demolished, gone forever. Shame.

It's a big job moving the JD stand, but its not a difficult one.

Funding shouldn't be an issue.

Way back when, the Romanians moved an entire apartment block. They'd move the JD stand in a weekend for a barrel of Tuica.
