What's bad about wanting the club to have the best possible facilities at our training ground to ensure that our club, both men & womens teams has every chance possible to add more trophies to the cabinet. Having a decaying decrepit Jack Dyer Stand remaining as it is will severely impact the club moving forward and will likely force the club to do a Hawthorn/Collingwood/Essendon and relocate their training and off field base to some parcel of land that has no ties to the history of the club at all.

It's not just the demoition of the stand that is important, it's the ability to expand the ground surface so that it's the same size as the MCG, so that the club can train the game plan properly, rather than scaling back to fit it on the ground.

Yeah that's fine but why shit on history and laugh about it.

Why would I be embarrassed that our club remains strong and in its traditional home ground rather then stagnate and possibly relocated to keep up with facilities other clubs have in order to keep a broken down old stand that has been shown no respect at all until people heard it was getting knocked down?

100 years old, but hardly a 100 years of history. We left that ground behind long ago and if we hadn’t that grandstand would of been the tigers tombstone. Anything this club has accomplished has been at the MCG our actual home ground.

The stand has been a complete after thought for most of its life span which is why no one cares if it gets bowled. The fans don’t care because it’s part In the Tigers story is a limited footnote.

Fun fact:- This year marked the transition of the clubs home ground belonging more to the MCG than Punt Rd Oval.

VFL/AFL Home ground at Punt Rd in front of the stand - 57 seasons (1908-1964)

Preserving history doesn't mean every physical artefact must be maintained.

The way I'm reading it you believe that you can't have a respect for history or preserve history AND upgrade a grand stand.

I love history - read a lot of books, visited a lot of museums and historic sites, observed a lot of artefacts. I believe that the culture and history of the RFC is tremendously important for the continuation of the club, and I believe that maintaining our connection to PRO and the area and telling stories, sharing memories, creating monuments (ala jack dyer statue for example) are all fantastic ways of protecting our heritage and preserving history.

Why can't we have history, culture and progress?

Your viewpoint is extremist becuase youre sitting at one end of the spectrum and trying to blanket every other view as this is or that because it's not yours...

You know that the stand is historically significant but your trying to justify it by saying the new stand is history as well, or something like that.
Your main argument is that progress is always the best way regardless of the history you lose which is wrong as well.
We all know it's about money and sponsors and the club couldn't be stuffed restoring the stand as it may cost something.

I’m not sure if it’s possible or not but would love if somehow they kept something from the Jack Dyer stand and incorporated into the upgrades.
