Oppo Camp Jack Ginnivan (Traded to Hawks 2023)

Well he’s gonna have to do more if he wants to be ahead of others.
That will be the plan for pre-season. But really couldn't have done much more in his limited minutes, and that's all you can ask for, I would imagine.
His pressure and tackling was so good.

Well next pre season isn’t going to help him keep his spot when Nick comes back
They arent vying for the same spot.
Someone from defence or someone like Lippa could be in trouble for the prelim.

We'll see. But Ginni did as much as he could. Did more in 10 mins than most did in a quarter. So now its up to the selectors.
He should still be the sub for the rest of the year

It’s likely whoever makes way will drop down to the sub. My bet would be Markov since every time he’s been “omitted” he was the sub.

There wasn’t much more Ginni could do in the limited amount of time he got but the fact he got so little time is probably an indication of where the coaches rate him atm.

Opposition will dictate it, but a PF v Port would hint at Markov as the sub. They don’t have the danger in their ground level forwards that Melbourne had unless Rozee plays forward which is highly unlikely so if Maynard plays and Naicos returns (he’ll be down back v Port) this feels the way they go. In that scenario I don’t see Ginnivan jumping into the 22.

Thought ginnivan was excellent myself given the state of the game. Collingwood was in protective mode and he came on and immediately laid two tackles, one of which that drew a free kick. Further he chased an opponent, despite having zero chance of catching him, but put enough perceived pressure on to force a bad kick out of bounds. Add a few disposals and job done apart from giving away one htb free kick at half forward.

The plan was for him to come on for DC earlier than he did, but they didn't want one out with Gawn, so they just bided their time until they thought it was time. If we werent v Gawn, would have come on earlier. His chase down HTB tackle was great. Really clean with the ball also.

He said post game he was bored sitting on the bench lol Just wanted to get out there involved in the contest.

Adams should be out before G

Sub rule is such a blight on the game , remove the sub and add two to interchange and assess the interchange numbers allowed during game.

Like Bobby , Elliott. Gini is X Factor , that roar when he came on was ridiculous. He held his own, did well. Im excited to see a hard pre season under his belt. He needs to stay in for September. Adams/Lipinnski should be the ones looked at. i did like Lippas game though

I'll admit that I don't much care for the crowd's reaction to Ginnivan, and I care even less about the way he crumples and stops trying to move the ball on when he thinks he deserves a free kick.

But he has nous, and he did well with his minutes last night, and he's done everything right to put himself in the frame for finals football.

It was so loud, the roar. And that was from the wing. I can only imagine what it was like in the ponsford.

Let’s be real. No one in our defence last night will be in trouble, unless Maynard goes out for suspension. Even if they were, you would go like for like and bring in Noble/Frampton depending who it is and then you still need one more out for Daicos. You take in one less of our half forward flankers/pocket types and possibly make Markov the sub.

Elliott and Hill are automatic selections, McCreery, Adams, Ginnivan and Lipinski are not. Of them I’d keep the ones that can actually win a contested ball.

he needs to learn to stop being so obvious about playing for frees. I love how cagey he is but he has been found out early in his career for his cheekiness. Your first option is to make the play, his is to milk something. Dont get me wrong i love the little bugger. If i was umpiring i'd have paid it as a high tackle but i was on the couch eating doritos. They should extend the subs to 3 players, then you can sub someone on tactically and 2 if needed for head injuries then everyone gets to be part of it.

In a fully healthy best 23 situation heading into a final they are the four most at risk (that play that role).

I’d say form and output has to be a big consideration in making a case for selection of any of them. I do think Adams and McCreery on what they bring to our side in finals type football should be safer than Lipinski in particular, but there’s no way I’d say it’s a certainty.

Beau is as safe as houses. Players would hate when he is in the area, as he plays to make sure you earn it.

Adams is also the same , however i feel he plays some dumb football at times with turnovers and going for too much. Maybe its just me that sees this

Yeah, Ginni just needs to learn how to throw the ball out of the contest whilst being tackled - just like Selwood, Oliver, Cripps

In an ideal world I'd prefer Ginni in the 22 and in the forward line working the spillage.

Outside of Hill in the first quarter I thought to often we once again lacked options at ground level when the ball was there to be won.

Not sure many in the side have the forward nous to generate scoring opportunities from half opportunities like him.

Love it. Ginni is the chairman of the bored.

Will stay in the team. You hear how loud it was when they showed him coming onto the ground?

Thought he his well. His pressure and tackling has improved so much.
Think it was bad management only bringing him on for last 10 mins when we struggled to move the ball forward.

If he'd been on the ground in the 1st quarter, we might have been a fair bit further in front.

Three pages on a 10 min game? Let me add to it 😃

Thought he was ok. Only thing I didn't like was him playing for a free very late instead of just taking the tackle and forcing a stoppage. Was no need for it and gave Dees a chance at a goal.

It was definitely the right move not to start all our small forwards. With the lack of entries this was not a game for them. Hard to make a case for all of them playing any remaining final. With Nick back it's possible Jack misses but probably more likely to be sub again.

Should be 5 on the interchange, no sub, and if someone gets injured, then you're back to your 4 like in previous years. Players just need full games.
That's exactly what I thought when they changed the sub from medical to tactical - just make it 5 on the bench.

Of course he does
