We wouldn't even know about it if some donkey who was also at the races didn't tweet about it.
We don't even know if any other players did anything on Friday night because no donkeys tweeted about it.
Not sure what the difference is between going out for dinner or seeing a movie and going to the races for a bit?
Particularly if the end result is the same = not on the p*ss and back home and in bed by a reasonable hour.

Rolly, I still haven’t forgiven you for your horrendous take on heat not being a factor. When it’s gonna be hot, you stay off your feet the night before and drink water. Ginni should have stayed indoors.

The way I look at things is before a game you do what you usually do.
Provided no alcohol is involved.

Then your points were confusing.

So you’re saying he did an impressive amount of work all through the season AND an impressive amount of work to get back into the side?

Because IQ basically says it was the latter and not the former.

You said “all year”; did you actually mean from round 12 onwards once he was dropped?
I’m saying that my memory of what Fly said differs to what IQ is saying. Happy for someone who can be arsed to verify

I don’t think that was eyeroller you numbskull.

Craig does sound like an annoyed teacher talking about that “one kid who has potential but needs to get his priority straight” though 😂🤣
Clear to me that he didn't like Ginnivan going to the races, but also doesn't want to be too restrictive. "Read the room", "is that what winners do?", "need to educate him", "be a humble group", "be respectful to the competition", "right on the line with it". On the other side: "if he thinks going to the races is what sets him up best, go to the races".

Even if there's zero impact on performance, players in the public eye do need to realise that at certain times they need to think about more than their own wants. Optics are important. If we had lost, rightly or wrongly, this would have been an even bigger story. Even now, I'm sure Craig would prefer not to be having to answer questions about it.

It was previous obvious to me that Fly was trying to discourage the act without saying it in as many words. He’s just too damn kind!

I think Fly was reading the room and giving Ginnivan a subtle hint without creating a media headline. Normally he 100% backs his players, so for him to say "im not sure if its what winners do" says a lot.

The fact that it is being discussed and Fly’s comments tells you everything.

He gave critics another opportunity. It was beyond stupid and would have been a disaster if we lost.

Seems the players didn’t/don’t have any issues him with as they apparently ended up back at his house celebrating.

I'm with Macrae Fly. Not sure a visit to the races the night before a GF is "winning behaviour".

I allow that my bias against gambling will make me come across as negative but if he'd gambled big that kind of stimulus the night before an AFL game, let alone a GF, isn't ideal.

Maybe we should just call him Fly 😉. I agree it’s not a good look.
That said, apparently he asked Ned if he could go as that’s his normal routine.

Merci beaucoup on the correction.

Wasn't aware he asked Ned.

That does shift my perspective on it because if true it shows that Ginni wants to be accountable.

Why wouldn't he ask Fly? Probably wanted to avoid the lecture.

I don’t think it was a good look either, but I’m pleased to hear that Ginni had the smarts to run it past Ned first.

It wasn’t his best game and as others have noted, if we’d lost he would have been targeted by media, social media, the lot.

But we won and this will die a natural death, especially if he has a very good pre-season. He needs to.
