During the season, a number of Hawk fans were saying Fergus Greene was better than today's Gunston.
Probably different now that he is likely to be heading back home.

They were pretty close in output.
Gunston will bring more off field. I don't think we should expect Gunston to contribute significantly on field next season but will be good to have him around the club again.

I think you’ll find that a number of hawk fans were comparing outputs, and at that point Greene had kicked more than Gunston.
Of course we’d love to have a 3 time premiership hero back at the club to guide the youngsters, it was the reason Mitchell wanted Bruest and Gunston to stick around last year.

We have one of the worst forward lines in the comp and a ton of cap space with no one to spend it on. A 1 year deal for a club legend who can hopefully play half the games and be a leader for the young forwards.

I know its been almost 30 years since Carlton saluted but Im not sure welcoming back a 3 timer is 'embarrassing'! There is still room for sentiment in the game.
Dude played 3 flags, Im delighted he is coming home even if just to help with development. Especially considering how many other multiple premiership players from the Hawks finished their careers elsewhere.
It's embarrassing on his part. Played cooked all year. Contracted for another year but sooks it up because he wasn't given a gig towards the end of the year and probably told that based on his output, he's fighting an uphill battle to return to senior selection.
