With Gunston, what are the odds that the Crows will deal with the club he nomintates (if he does) or will go for the best deal they can get?
On this if Gunston nominates hawthorn as his club of choice but Carlton give Adelaide the best offer. Can Adelaide send him to Carlton? Because if he's out of contract he would have to sign a contract to play with them wouldn't he? But if he gets traded to Carlton and refuses to sign what happens then?
All good questions, looks like the Crows are not in the position of power there supporters like to think they are. Oh Dear

A player needs to agree to be traded to a club first and foremost before any negotiations should take place. Otherwise both clubs are just wasting time.
Of course, if Gunston refuses to go to a club the Crows are happy to deal with his only other choice is to re-sign with the Crows or enter the drafts.

True. But between now and draft week I'm going to selectively read bits here and there and tell myself only the things I want to hear will come true.
edit: Gunston to North for 3rd rounder, i know a bloke who's sister....

the crows have already thrown their toys out of the cot with this one. expect a club paying unders - 3rd rounder.
People thinking that we're going to just get and accept a third rounder are just being trolls or are really that stupid.
Say if we're only going to use three picks in the draft before upgrading rookies then a third round pick from any Victorian team is just useless for us and there'd be no difference for us between accepting that and sending Gunston to the draft.
If there are really 5 or so Victorian clubs after his services then they are going to give up something decent to get him. If a club comes up to us during trade week and says "Gunston for a third rounder. Take it or leave it." I expect us to laugh in their face and walk out the room.

The other point is Gunston is going to have a number of clubs after him, how pleased will he be with his club of choice if they make the trade difficult and don't offer fair compensation and string it out? If the choices weren't too far apart it wouldn't take much for him to go the club that is prepared to make it happen.

I doubt there is any "goodwill" between Gunston & the Crows.
My guess is he'll nominate a club, dig his heels in and the Crows to do the best they can given the circumstances.

Whatever you think about Schoenmakers (and his game last night was solid but punctuated by a couple of howlers) I don't think he's on the trading block.
Port tried to get him for Burgoyne a couple of seasons back (rang him directly no less).
We get mentioned in this speculation a lot because because we look to trade more often than not, but I just don't think we are in the running for this kid.

Just on the Lucas trade above: I've been told Lucas has been chased by GWS. If he goes anywhere it will be there but I've also heard he is staying, so it will interesting to see how this transpires. I don't believe however that it will be WC that he will be going too.
Mess - loves the Hawks, can't see him going anywhere.
