Port were obviously targetting him too and can clearly promise a far better role. Circumstances absolutely changed once it was clear Dixon and maybe Marshall were at the end. It's also no surpise to see this come out after the reports of Collingwood's offer for Perryman blowing Port out of the water.

He is a good player, but ANB and Cumming will both actually improve areas of the ground we are average in.

For sure. But the reality is cumming off half back is the bigger need, ANB for the right price and as long as he replaces Murphy improves us across half forward. We already have our key forwards with welsh coming in too and i don't want anything disrupring Dan Curtins role in the side which Luko could have impacted. Save our f1 (likely) and hit the draft and grab a top mid and a project ruck there as well. Thats really the offseason we need and would be a good offseason.

Port have a much greater need for him in their forward line, maybe their offer and long term security was better than ours. Combine that with the fact he is best mates with Roezee and its not surprising he didn't pick us.

If we miss on Cumming then that is a much bigger fail.

Cumming has to be the number one priority now, make it impossible to choose anyone else.

You don't think it's a concerning trend that we've targeted a number of high profile players over the last two years and landed none of them?

Cumming and Neal-Bullen are fine players and good additions, but they are role players. In two years of being "active" at bringing in players, we'll end up with Burgess, Cumming and Neal-Bullen - and we don't even know if we'll land Cumming. Neal-Bullen seems to have landed in our lap through luck.

I don't buy this Rozee connection being important at all: it makes zero sense.
It seems now that the very relevant thing is the long-standing rumour that his father said that he will never come back to the Crows, whatever the reason. I think this has to be the main factor, however misplaced.

He had all that met with nicks and looked at him and thought no id rather play for the crows rival. Nicks can't coach he can't attract players and through him being so shit at his job has put as at a point of being unattractive club to play for.

If we don't attract cumming and at least a another player given we went public saying how aggressive we will be this off-season it's another failure to add to the embarrassment that we've been since 2018

Anyone who doesn't think he would've been a high end addition to our list and now to ports list is kidding themselves. He's developed and ready to go and slots straight with 6 years of development behind him and is ready to hit his prime. Somehow we've been trash since 2018 and they've managed to regenerate their a grade midfield with another a grade midfield and we still have a c grade midfield.

We can't do anything right only person we've attracted fair and square was Dawson ( rankine was always coming to us if he came home) and look at the outs we've had multiple aa players just a joke of a club I'm so sick of it

Do you actually count Gulden and Oliver as targets? Lukosius is nothing but a role player either.

Improving your role players is just as critical as trying to land a high profile recruit, especially when our role players are the likes of McHenry and Murphy!

Rankine and Dawson play tennis then I guess... Port, whilst nailing JHF, Butters and Rozee, have had more misses than hits recently with their recruiting. Luko has potential but is no different to Todd Marshall at this point in his career.

Port’s lack of quality ahead of the ball combined with Prelim lost means that probably needed to go all in on Luko

If they add Perryman, they will have 5-6 players in elite salaries, Rennes they are paying Ratugolea $800k per season as well for the next four years

Be interesting to see whether Luko reaches his potential, or becomes the next Jack Watts

You are overrating him. He has and always will be a soft footballer who goes missing when it counts. Dimma is a great judge. Have faith in that. Port just snagged themselves a very flakey footballer who has lived off of his reputation as a talented footballer. Talent clearly isn’t everything.
