Jack Riewoldt will be the AFL's best KPF in 2012

Footywire and Richmond list him as 193cm 87kg. I'm considerably more inclined to take their word for it.

He doesn't have the physique or body type to be a KPF, he's in the "other" category that is considered a third tall, though is often forced to play FF for various reasons - guys like Brett Burton and Russell Robertson.

Really good call. I don't think he has the strength to bring down a good contested mark at FF. Heres hoping he can at least salvage his career as a crumbing forward pocket or something like that.

Wrong thread dude.
Pav, Buddy, The better Reiwoldt, Kennedy better keys now and unlikely to be threatened by Jack.

Pav = no

Buddy = I can understand that it is currently up for debate

Riewoldt Snr = Going past him

Kennedy = Lol. Average to decent young player but no where in the mould of Jack.

Im disgusted in this thread:

From an Essendon supporters perspective you didnt think to consider Scott Gumbleton or Michael Hurley?

Or even from a logical perspective you didnt think to consider Josh Kennedy, Kurt Tippet (maligned, but potential nonetheless), Henderson (will get much better with game time), Jarrod Grant? There are many more.. poor thread.

Gumbleton needs to do something this year just to try and stay in your 22. Has lived off potential for years. Could be a gun but gee you would want to see something sooner rather than later. The others are not even in the same league.

Only young player close is Hurley and he is going to have to cover a lot of territory just to get to the same level.

Once Richmond actually start winning games and having a decent amount of inside 50's this bloke is going to kick a ton.

I had to laugh over the pre season at all the hype about how teams were going to stop him this year. Teams figured out last year when he started kicking huge bags that they had to stop him and they couldn't. It's not like a coach can think of some amazing formula over the pre season that he hadn't already thought about during the season. Griffiths is a marking machine and will be in our 22 by rnd 5-6. If they want to drop multiples on Riewoldt we will just kick it to this 200cm Giant.

I would argue Jack is the best in the comp at judging the flight of the ball in a marking contest, and easily in the top few at kicking for goal. Will only get better:thumbsu:

And to think both Jack and Buddy could have been team mates at either the Hawks or the Tigers.

What a forward combination that would have been!!!

Here comes the BF hype machine after a 6 goal game.......

He's good, would have Buddy, Nick R, Pavlich, Brown ahead of him currently.

I would still pick Franklin. Averaged just as many goals per game as Jack last year, playing higher up the ground and also averaged 5 or 6 more possessions per game more than Jack.

Each to their own though. Fwiw, I think Michael Hurley will be a better player than Jack by the end of their careers and I think Franklin will be ahead of them both.

Pinocchio watch.

This is what I don't understand about discussing draft picks in hindsight.

Who's to say that Jack would have developed to the same extent at Hawthorn, likewise Buddy at the Tigers?

Pavlich, No, needs to kick more goals

Seriously? He spent half of last season as a midfielder and still managed 61 goals for the year. Even as a full time midfielder for the entire 2009 season he managed to average 1.5 goals per game.

Of all the things you could be critical of Pavlich for, not kicking enough goals, isn't one of them.

just have to laugh about the buddy/jack debate. the amount of ball going into the hawks fwd half that year they both would of bagged tons. hawks would have won the flag by the preverbial straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And a Coleman medal.

Have a look at the team JR plays for. The ball does not come with great midfield kicks and can rarely find his team-mates providing the ball into a reliable lead space either.

Fair point. But then again if he played in a team with decent mids (besides carlton) hed be sharing the foward line as buddy and nick do

..except they play predominately as CHFs, and Jack is a FF..

And the thread says KPP so your post is pointless. A complete irrelevant argument.

Nick and Buddy are ahead quite easily. Jack may become the best but he is not there yet.

Had to laugh at the poster suggesting Hawks should have won the flag. Obviously has a limited understanding of the game.

Now now, Buddy has also proven that he can step up in finals games under pressure situations and has four quality seasons under his belt. Jack has the potential to be one of if not the best key forwards in the league, but he's not on Buddy's level. Yet.

..true enough, more highlighting the difference between them.. ..sure they're all kpf,, but very different styles of play.. ..neither can play either position to the same ability as their preferred position i believe.. ..so too open a category..

Buddy still got more kicks directed at him last year than Jack did. I don't think it'd be that much of an issue.

Is this factual information or knowledge you plucked from your head?

Easily dismissed. Im sure the number of goals he kicked last year would be very different if he had someone like roughead playing along side him
