Jack Riewoldt will be the AFL's best KPF in 2012

could win the coleman this year?

and good i hope he is the best forward in 2012 because by that stage he'll be at st kilda.

I hope he does, would be a great story. Probably the most improved player this season, has already kicked more goals than he did in the 2009 season. A shining light for Richmond this year :thumbsu:

He has come on alot, young Jack. Will start getting the same 'respect' other key forwards do soon and that will be his challenge - much like Tippett this year (remember pre-season everone was saying Tippett would dominate).

When the Brown/Riewoldt/Pavlich/Fevola careers start to wind up, Franklin will be far and away the best forward. He's the only one of the next generation who has shown an ability to still dominate once the attention arrives after a breakout season (which he had in 2007).

Cloke, Roughead, Tippett all looked the goods when they were unknown youngsters but have struggled once the attention came. That will be the challenge for Riewoldt and Kennedy starting next season.

What do you mean when he starts getting attention? That doesn't make any sense. He's getting attention every single week from multiple defenders.

Kid goes alright considering he's in a struggling team. Will be good to watch in a few years when he gets better service more often.. (that's assuming Richmond get off the ground :p )

Three things:-

1. Sides have no respect for Richmond and allow a free wheeling game, knowing they will win. This won't last his whole career.

2. I watch the Saints every week. Gun forwards like Franklin, Brown, Pavlich aren't left one on one with Jason Blake. If they were they'd kick 10.

3. The season after young key forwards break out, opposition do their homework. Happened to Roughead who kicked 70 odd aged 21. Happened to Tippett who kicked 70 odd aged 21. Happened to Franklin who kicked 70 odd aged 20 (and then kicked a ton). Happened to Cloke who won a B&F aged 21. I reckon it then takes a couple years for the forward to find their way around it and most forwards peak after the age of 25.

Riewoldt and Kennedy will both kick 65-70 goals this year. Sides will do their home work and i'd expect both to have a drop off as alot of forwards do.

Long way off ridiculous calls like that of the OP. He's a talented forward in good form. I'll stick to the guys with runs on the board.

Why do you think they moved Fisher onto him? It was either him or Blake since Dawson was out (would've got 20 kicked on him). Neither could stop Riewoldt.

Buddy will well and truly be in his prime then, don't forget he kicked over 100 goals 18 months ago. Riewoldt will likely be an excellent key forward but he lacks the x-factor and freak athletic ability to ever be the best key forward in the game imo.

Strange call, I would have thought freak athletic ability is exactly what Jack has, not many in the game are taking grabs like he is at the moment.

By that stage the Saints will have missed their window, while the Tiges will be starting to show some real form, don't think he will be going anywhere unless the two new teams tempt him away.

Ridiculous calls?

If he keeps this form up, why wouldnt he be the best?

I cant see Franklin getting to his 2008 heights, especially the way the Hawks are travelling. Richmond is on the way up and will have a better list than a lot of sides by the start of the 2013 season.

Have been saying this for over a month now, he'll be far better than Nick (in some ways he already is :p)

I doubt he will get to his cousins heights.

Nick is the best KPF in the game currently and bar 2007 has been for the past 5 or so seasons.

Long way to go before Jack is able to mention 'better' to his cousin over a sustained period of time.

Jack has a handful of good games and now there are threads like this about him... Surely a joke...

I'm sure he will be very good but I would still pick 10 or so other Key Forwards ahead of him.

"At 21 years and seven months, Riewoldt has already racked up 86. Fevola had 66 at the same age and Brown just 47.

The freakish Lance Franklin had a whopping 223 by the same time" HS June 5th.

OP the guy has played a few good games, so you surely can't judge him on a few good games and a whole heap of below par and average ones before that...

This has to be one of your more silly outlandish statements

They'll still be struggling in 2013 because they have zero depth.

Depending on where Essendon play him, Michael Hurley could be a better KPF than Riewoldt.

Better kick with both feet.

And that's not counting Franklin, Kennedy, Gumbleton, Watts and Roughead.

Roughead has kicked 24 goals without starring.

Watts just needs time.

Riewoldt wasn't that flash early in his career.

Footy supporters are goldfish.

Gumbleton will be a harder match up than Jack Riewoldt.

Sticky hands and a reach that makes him 200 cms tall when he takes a mark at the highest point.

Lol it is called the draft champ! Last year this year and the next year following = depth!

Riewoldt is currently outperforming Kennedy and is a year younger.

Riewoldt is currently way way outperforming Gumbleton.

Watts lol

I agree on Roughy, Franklin

So pretty much with those other 3 you are hoping they improve a hell of alot and Riewoldt stgnates. Gumbleton has scope. Kennedy can improve however I would say Riewoldt can more via kicking for goal and size, I think Kenedy is doing as well as possible for those two arear and can't see him wanting to put on more weight or increase his accuracy. Also Riewoldt will be getting better ball delivery going forward in an improving side.

So what you're saying is, he kicked 6 goals against the third and second best defenders in a side noted for being weak in the genuine defensive stopper department?

They can't be too bad, been the best defensive team in the comp for the last 2 years by a long way:rolleyes:

St. Kilda defend from the front; they have a couple of good rebounders, but ultimately their back six is very weak when it comes to genuine stopping KPD's. That best defensive record is almost entirely due to a dominant and hard working midfield, and a strong defensive and harassing element in their forward line.

I agree with your above comments and that would apply to great defenders needing help further up the ground, but you can't be serious thinking Blake and Fisher never beat opponenets in one on one contests on a regular basis.
