Yeah but if he wants out it would seem like a neat solution

I think a neat solution would be .. he stays and fulfils his contract. Players signing for extended contracts have an obligation to coming to the party.Personally id have thought signing till he qualifies for FA would have been enough.. but he signed for 5 years.. as far as I know the Saints have always taken care of him well, paid him well... really if he is able to play he should really play for them. The games he has missed this year does complicate it.

What is?

He is on par with Duncan IMO
Specifically Charlie Constable is not anywhere close to a fair trade. Don't let the fact he's in the 2s fool you. He's there because he hasn't developed the tank to run out games yet but will be an automatic in when he does. Consider his 31 disposal, 13 contested possession, 4 mark, 4 tackle and a goal game that got him a rising star nomination. Did you know that he only played 69% game time in that match? He played a full 20 minutes of footy less than every other 30 disposal player with 88 minutes of a 127 minute match. The other 4 players with 30 or more possessions were Clayton Oliver, Patrick Dangerfield, Agus Brayshaw, and Tim Kelly. What do you think he'll look like when he's fit enough to spend more than 3 quarters on the field?

So no, that is unambiguously an unfair trade. Jack has been a great player and can be for a couple more years yet but you don't throw away the best mid on your list under the age of 25 for a guy who will play maybe 40 games for you.

Consensus on the board seems to be around a pick in the early 30s. Could see us paying overs to save face a bit and out of respect for the club he comes from and the player he has been, but there is no way that Charlie Constable is in that trade. He just isn't

Seems he’ll be Geelong bound. Geelong won’t be giving up a first for him. Saints will just need Geelong to work out how they can improve their second round pick. Or they back Geelong to slide a little next year and take a future second.
Steven still has a bit of conditioning to do. Saw him in the vfl on the weekend. Has the pace and was obviously above the level. But he has a lot of work to do.

Think we'd get Geelongs first or similar if we paid half his salary for a year or two.
