Jacky delisted

Crows VERY VERY rarely make any list announcements until after the trade week. They like to gague interest from other clubs in some players and then see who the list pans out after the trade week to make their decisions.

If they are active during trade week with their draft picks, chances are we will upgrade a few rookies to cover the loss of those but it pretty much means nothing at this stage.

What has been confirmed so far is:
Delisted: Jacky
Defected (delisted): Bock
Retired: Goodwin, McLeod, Edwards, Burton, Hentschel
Upgraded to Veterans List: Doughty
Upgraded to Senior List: Henderson

Neither Schmidt nor Jaensch have been upgraded to the senior list so far, at least the club haven't announced these moves. Given the text of that media release it is unlikely that they will be upgraded until after the conclusion of Trade Week.

yeah, I'd noticed you mention that before , but I'd always thought he was out of contract his year, after signing in 2008.
Anyway, its what we all thought would happen.

And wasn't it Dangerfields number that Rendell read out incorrectly at the draft, not Jackys? Sorry to blow your link. (not Vader, someone else who posted earlier - but I cant remember who..)

No, it was definitely Jacky's, as it was Jack Grimes ID# that he read out with Jacky's name, would have been a bigger issue had Grimes not already been picked (pick 16ish IIRC).

At this stage we have 5 vacancies on our senior list. I think the club just wanted as much flexibility as possible going into trade week.

I wouldn't read too much into the non-elevations of Jaensch and Schmidt. I would expect those to be announced after the conclusion of trade week, along with any further delistings (Moran?).

Vader, from all reports Moran seems to have finally recovered and should be able to have a normal pre-season.

The rumours about him possibly retiring haven't been given any oxygen by the club as far as I know.

What happened to Jacky?

I remember him as an excitement machine - quick, agile small wingman/half forward with neat skills in the Aaron Davey mould ...

... was watching one of the WWT Eagles games on ABC iView a couple of weeks ago and he looked bog ordinary (bulky, slower and less agile) - wouldn't have recognised him if the commentators didn't point him out.

Interesting.. Could have sworn that he signed a 2-year deal at the end of 2009, meaning that he was already contracted for 2011.
Can't say that I'm surprised to see him being given the flick though.
pretty sure he did sign a new deal 2 year some time last year, which i was surprised about, but makes sense to delist him now rather than next year, because there was no chance he would've pushed for senior selection in 2011 anyway.

A lead up marking forward or wingman. Not the typical crumbing small forward. Not sure what his problems are, just hasn't put it together since impressing when he 1st arrived at the club.

Are you confused? He's a small crumbing forward, not a lead up marking forward. At around 180cm he'd be the shortest lead up marking forward on the planet

He is not a crumbing forward. If you have ever seen him play which sounds like you haven't, you would know this. He is a small forward in the Porps mould where he is more of a marking forward then a stay at the front of the packs goal sneak.

we all wanted him to be a small crumbing forward but as mentioned above this is not how he played.

I heard recently he was pretty frustrated at the Eagles as when he was playing reserves he spent alot of time in defence? I havent seen any eagles game so cannot confirm, I also heard he was frustrated at not being promoted to the senior side when he did string a few good games together.

Its a pity it didnt work out for whatever reason because he looked like he was going to be pretty exciting when he arrived, and even though he didnt set the world alight in his 3 games I thought there were glimpes, however since then he has gone backwards at a rate of knots.

Shut up. He's a spud, was delisted, you were wrong, end of story.

Hohoooooo he's got the knives out!

There are spuds, and then there are those who had issues other than talent. Jacky is the latter. Hope he gets things on track when he heads back home.

That's how I see it too BRG.

We thought we were drafting a crumber, but he was virtually clueless at that. Far from being his strong bow. He did have other attributes though.

What's really disappointing though is his lack of improvement from his first year onwards - if anything he went a long way backwards.

Disappointing, but c'est la vie in footy.

He's justifiably gone and we move on.

Yep - would have been shattering to have to settle for Grimes when we really wanted Jacky...

my fav WW story was a few months ago when claimed players wouldn't leave in FA because they didn't realky want it, and how they didn't want a higher salary cap.

nothing he's said about Jacky tops that :D

The reason I think we've departed from our normal policy and announced Jacky's delisting is that I think he will be the only delisting that will be done other than what we already know, and his trade value is a half eaten pasty.

During trade week, the players that I think the club would see as expendable whether as a trade on their own or more likely as part of another trade would be

Armstrong

Cook

Petrenko

Sellar

with Sellar only available if we get Jacobs.

Alternatively if those 4 aren't involved in trades, IMO the club would be happy to keep them.
